This position will provide leadership and management of Metso: Outotec's SVS GBP engineering operations in Vadodara, India to include Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical engineering. The position will work to maintain and enhance the reputation for providing consistently accurate and on-time engineering designs to Metso: Outotec's client base. The Engineering Manager will create a work environment that allows staff to maintain quality, timely deliveries and project profitability by helping efficiently manage resources, use consistent and appropriate engineering practices, project management methodologies and design/engineering tools and techniques. The position will also be responsible for maintaining and developing the technical competency of self and staff while driving productivity and resource utilization, together with the global Management team.
Essential Functions
Provide engineering cost and schedule estimations for Engineered-to-Order projects in accordance with the requested scope and the available capacities
Review and Approve engineering, design and detailing support as needed for project execution
Management, organization and development of the local and global engineering team
Continuous review, improvement and development of working processes and procedures in the area of responsibility
Monitor use, development and application of Metso: Outotec IP
Align Engineering functional processes and workflows with all functional groups in the business life-cycle.
Maintain a Continuous Improvement mindset in Metso: Outotec's PLM.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of engineering procedures, guidelines and standards.
Manage all engineering operations for assigned groups both locally and globally.
Provide support in the development and coordination of proposals for new business opportunities.
Coordinate with Global Engineering groups to ensure consistency and uniformity in Engineering designs and deliverables.
Working closely with Product Line Engineering and Product Managers, provide technical guidance to other departments including: Sales & Proposals, Order Management, Manufacturing, Procurement & Logistics, Project Management and Field Service.
Determine correct engineering resources for providing root cause analysis (RCAs) both in-house and the field to ensure that we deliver the correct product preventing reoccurrences.
Maintains engineering documentation in support of product design, global company standards, and regulatory requirements through the appropriate Engineering Data Management systems (EDMs)
Monitor, review and evaluate engineering performance and take corrective action if required.
Ensure that all work complies to relevant statutory requirements and standards, as applicable.
Ensure that all the equipment designed by the department is fit and safe for the intended application.
Provide project support to ensure optimum scheduling for engineering resources.
Provide organization and managerial support to internal and external projects.
Attend project review meetings and provide necessary reporting on a regular basis.
Provide oversight and guidance for the improvement of engineering support tools and databases.
Motivates high levels of performance within the department.
Resolve personnel issues in coordination with HR.
Participates in hiring and employment decisions and conducts regular performance review meetings with employees to give timely feedback.
Assists employees with development needs and sets performance targets and objectives.
Sees that employees conform to company policies.
Travel
Up to 25% may be required for this position.
Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience) required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of engineering experience in an applicable industry
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in an engineering management/supervisory position
  • Previous experience in strategic and operational planning and performance management
  • Experience with SAP software/databases or equivalent required
  • Experience with CAD software and EDM systems preferred
  • Experience in functions such as product design, procurement, fabrication, and quality control preferred
  • Experience in management of local, remote, domestic, and international employees
  • A proven track record of professional accomplishments and reliability.
  • High level of MS Office and ERP skills
  • Knowledge of typical business transactions and typical PLM methodology.
  • A passionate and engaging individual with a focus on improving operations and business growth.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills that ensure an effective relationship with key stakeholders across the operations and functions.
