As a member of the Platform Engineering team, the Engineering Manager - TechOps will enable the engineering teams to scale our infrastructure, platform, and internal developer tooling of multiple global digital products being developed within Carrier Digital. This role will work on a range of software products critical to Carrier’s continued business growth. As a manager, you'll lead a team of engineers through the design and implementation of cloud-native software operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure product direction aligns with company goals
• Set goals and hold constraints to ensure the health and continuous improvement of the system
• Manage day-to-day activities of engineers
• Establish Site Reliability and Observability Center of Excellence for Carrier Digital
• Partner with DevOps and TestOps leadership to ensure alignment with Platform Engineering goals
• Lead engineers on the operational challenges related to scalability, reliability, performance, and efficiency of our applications
• Help the team and other engineering leaders to continuously improve our operating processes
• Ensure we run a cost-effective service, monitor, and make changes to hit spending targets
• Work directly with the other Digital leaders and your team to define and evolve our architecture
• Help build a diverse and highly skilled team able to keep up with a rapidly growing product

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of professional experience in IT Operations
• At least 8 years of experience supporting production applications
• At least 8 years of experience defining and leading on-call support processes
• At least 6 years of experience delivering application performance monitoring visualizations
• At least 4 years of experience creating and maintaining Cloud Environments
• At least 4 years of experience testing cloud native software

• Multiple Observability Platforms
• Hands-on experience delivering cloud-native software using modern DevOps practices
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Knowledge/Certifications

• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty or equivalent practical experience
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• Multiple IAC Methods, such as CloudFormation, Serverless Framework, CDK, SAM, Terraform
• Hands-on experience with Open Telemetry
• Familiarity with Application Security concepts such as OWASP, CVE, SAST
• JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js and React experience
• Familiarity with Agile software development

Technical Skills: Subject Matter Expertise in one or more of the following:

• Deep domain expertise in operating and monitoring high-performing, always available, internet-scale global applications
