Senior Engineering Manager - International Systems Engineering

This position is for Sr. Engineering Manager - International Systems Engineering in Wabtec India Technology & Engineering Center (WITEC), Bangalore. This role will lead a team of systems engineers & engineering program managers spread across the globe providing leadership in OTR(Order to Remittance) execution of locomotive projects. The purpose of this role is to provide Systems Engineering Leadership to deliver new locomotives and loco systems upgrades to international customers. Systems leadership includes requirement management, systems configuration & integration, factory build support, systems validation including in-country validation, commissioning and launch support. This role has the responsibility to work collaboratively & strategically with globally diverse stakeholders to deliver best in class product configuration meeting business objectives and customer requirement. The leader in this role is also responsible for shaping the product portfolio leveraging standardization, modularization in consultation with product management and other cross functions.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

• OTR Ownership & responsibility to execute & deliver locomotive product for international customers meeting requirement, schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with global teams and leverage best practices across product platforms to envision and realize the products for future; Drive innovation to optimize the cost, schedule, and quality
• Collaborate with systems optimization, proposal engineering, program management, commercial operations, product management, engineering, and other cross -functional teams in customer discovery through ITO, OTR, and full product life cycle
• Understand the customer requirements, operating environment, and regulations; Evaluate impact of requirements on engineering development schedule, cost, and quality towards business trade-offs
• Guide and support team in flow down of customer requirements in to engineering specific requirements from systems to respective sub systems/ components to ensure Engineering design meets / comply with the customer requirements; Participate and support customer acceptance and approval process
• Guide, mentor, coach engineers to develop system engineers' pipeline; similarly, provide leadership to the team to drive systems' thinking and Wabtec Values
• Integrate and develop tools/processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy
• Provide timely communications and solutions for significant issues, Develop and own metrics for reporting progress and effectively communicate with the x-functional and senior leadership to assure quality products are delivered
• Provide sound techno-commercial leadership to the engineering team consisting of lead system engineers and engineering program managers

Basic Requirement & Qualifications
Engineering degree (Masters/Bachelors) in Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent discipline from a university of repute 15 years of progressive engineering experience preferably in Diesel and/or battery and/or Electric locomotive design & application Strong understanding & knowledge of requirements management, validation test execution, field commissioning & customer acceptance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a cross-functional, global teams, demonstrated drive & leadership Demonstrated experience in influencing at all levels of the organization and customer relationship skills

Proven record of employing systems engineering skills Technical breadth and depth in locomotive & subsystem design & validation Familiarity with the range of technologies as applicable to freight/passenger Locomotives Experience in leading global teams & demonstrated ability to lead effectively within a matrix organization Sigma Greenbelt or Black belt certification Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to lead and influence cross-functional team efforts
