Your field of responsibility

As a part of the South Asia General Counsel team, act as the primary legal contact in India for Asia Pacific (APAC) Financing Group (\xe2\x80\x9cAFG\xe2\x80\x9d), APAC Markets (including Equities) (\xe2\x80\x9cMarkets\xe2\x80\x9d), Treasury, India legal entities, Human Resources (HR), day-to-day legal entities queries, and other general corporate matters as related to Credit Suisse in India. Also perform supervisory role for legal support to the India Wealth Management (\xe2\x80\x9cWM\xe2\x80\x9d) and India Investment Banking & Capital Markets (\xe2\x80\x9cIBCM\xe2\x80\x9d) businesses and the Pune and Powai legal entities. Support all committees for Credit Suisse legal entities in India and also provide support to the Litigation and Investment Group (\xe2\x80\x9cLIG\xe2\x80\x9d) with any disputes or regulatory enquiries arising out of India or Indian transactions. Provide effective legal assistance, advice and support on transactions and matters arising out of the activities undertaken by the WM and IBCM, particularly AFG and Lombard Lending, in respect of India, including:

  • Supporting transactions by proactively managing legal, regulatory and reputational risks and escalating issues, where appropriate, including within the General Counsel Division and other relevant partners - the work includes drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on transaction documentation and other related documents and issues
  • Ensuring effective information sharing (including upwards management information) amongst peers and colleagues
  • Supporting any related contentious matters and proactively manage the same
  • Assisting in other legal matters as requested from time to time.
  • Being a key and integral partner and strategic advisor to CS India franchise
  • Providing timely legal and regulatory advice to all licenses and business divisions of CS India franchise
  • Advising on, reviewing and negotiating financing transactions entered into by the business divisions of CS India franchise
  • Taking informed decisions relating to business and to stand by such decisions and exercising and discharging appropriate challenges and control responsibilities
  • Providing legal and strategic advice on new business projects
  • Closely collaborating with regional GC teams and participating in regional GC calls / meetings
  • Providing quality legal advice and escalating issues from time to time and identifying potential risks to the franchise on various matters including financing transactions
  • Monitoring key regulatory legal and market developments and themes with potential impact on the business and developing strong strategic advisor relationship with business partners
  • Maintaining relationships with key partner law firms for better pricing and delivery on timely manner
  • Collaborating with regional teams and focusing on delivering results on issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Providing general corporate legal support to all shared services departments e.g., supply vendor management, CRES, HR, IT, etc.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
  • Outstanding experience in private banking and wealth management legal advice and service, structured lending and extensive knowledge of general banking and finance laws and exchange control laws of India
  • Equivalent work experience in a leading law firm and/or as an in-house counsel at a leading financial institution
  • Extensive working knowledge of and broad familiarity with the financial industry and the applicable legal/regulatory regime in India
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team
  • Proficiency in English and an outstanding drafting ability
  • Proficiency to work effectively and collaboratively with teams and the business
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, a positive \'can-do\' attitude and can work under deadlines and can make balanced decisions
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, strive to seek results with an accurate judgment and a control mind-set whilst being a proactive learner
  • Flexibility to prioritize tasks while grasping the wider picture as well as details
  • Ambitious, hardworking who can work collaboratively deliver on time with integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
