Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group\xe2\x80\x99s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management. There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions. The Opportunity: Global Business/Global Function: Global Risk is a very dynamic global function with HSBC which works very closely with all the global businesses & other global functions in managing the top & emerging risks for the Bank. Global Risk has many sub-functions like Wholesale & Market Risk, WPB Risk, Operational & Resilience Risk, CRO & Administration etc. which are critical for the Bank for driving Risk monitoring and governance effectively. Effective management of financial and Non-financial risks requires diverse information from a variety of sources, for example, risk reports, risk and control profiles, operational risk incidents, key risk indicators, risk heat maps, and rules and definitions for regulatory capital and economic capital reporting. Executive-level dashboard and reports provide visibility into the risk analysis, highlighting key risk metrics and policy compliance. Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function: WMR The Wholesale Credit and Market Risk (WMR) department within the Group Risk measures and monitors globally credit and market risks arising from trading activity as well as credit approval for large corporate, financial institution and sovereign exposures.
The Org. has setup a Global data organization structure in recognition of the importance of effective data acquisition, management and usage in the achievement of its global business strategy. The Global data organization is also responsible for coordinating compliance with the DBS FIM Procedure on data management and key data related regulations such as BCBS239. The Global data organization includes the Chief Data Officers in each Global Business and Global Function, and Risk has set up a data team as part of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s activities in this area. The role will help improve all aspects of data governance, quality and management for ASP Risk across different risk types. The role will interface with key stakeholders in Risk including WMR, Treasury Risk, WPB Risk, Group Risk as well as Global businesses including Wholesale, MSS, and Finance to implement sound data management activities in support of complex and evolving data requirements for ASP Risk. This role reports into the lead AVP \xe2\x80\x93 WMR Data Management Team, but supports ASP Risk to implement data control including BCBS239. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do: This is the implement Risk data strategy on data controls to fulfil BCBS239 and DBS FIM data management requirements, with primary focus on data consumed /produced by ASP Risk processes (across WCR, WPB Risk, Capital Risk, Liquidity Risk, IRRBB, Pension, Market Risk from Insurance, etc) and requires interaction with a number of stakeholders across Risk, Wholesale, MSS, WPB, Finance, DAO in addition to respective IT teams. The incumbent is expected to familiarize themselves with the complex systems, architecture and data flow and architecture landscape and to identify opportunities for improvement in management of data within this environment Job Overview
  • To work close with ASP Risk and Finance CDO Data team to ensure ASP Risk compliant with Data Management (DMAN or DUSE) requirements and including but not limited to Risk Data Aggregation and Reporting Compliance Framework for BCBS239
  • Perform data definition, data inventory, governance and data quality management tasks

Data Usage and Governance:
  • Coordinate with Group DAO, ASP, and various teams on delivery of the DMAN /DUSE or BCBS239 Compliance Framework data and reporting standard activities
  • Attestation and Self-assessment, documentation of evidence aligned to the requirements from DMAN /DUSE or BCBS239 Compliance Framework
  • Coordinate and lead Data Usage related activities with Group DAO data team, to publish the accurate KCI on data management
  • Ensure critical data is identified and defined, and data dictionary is documented across the processes of data consumed or produced by ASP Risk for key reports /metrics in scope to fulfil the requirements
  • Ensure data consumption from trusted sources and data produced /distributed to compliant with Trusted Source Framework requirements.
  • Review with related business, functions and ITSO teams to ensure data flow lineage annually is accurate and compliant with DMAN /DUSE or BCBS239 Compliance Framework requirements
  • Work with Group DAO DQ team to publish DQ monitoring results to DQ dashboard
Data Quality:
  • Analysis of existing controls as well as analysis of all new Risk consumer requirements for additional DQ controls
  • Design of the controls based on data lineage and analysis that meets the data management requirements
  • Co-ordination of root cause analysis, testing and remediation of any issues identified controls breaks
  • Ensure efficient handover to BAU team for transition, operational embeddedness at country level
  • Coordinate and lead Data Quality related activities to make sure the dashboard reflects right data.

Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role: Eligibility Criteria \xe2\x80\x93
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience. Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in information systems or other engineering specializations.
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of in any one or combination of advanced BI and Data tools e.g. QLIK, Tableau, SQL, Oracle etc.
  • Experience on managing project and plan execution
  • Ability to think creatively to drive innovative solutions
  • Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries
  • Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework. Experience on working on Data/Information Management projects of varying complexities.
Functional requirement:
  • Exposure to risk management processes and systems, finance reporting and systems
  • Understanding of concepts of credit risk such as CRR, liquidity risk, capital reporting, etc
  • Prior experience in data management, regulatory reporting and BCBS 239 project is a plus
  • Techno functional experience business transformation is preferred
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change and ability to support others to respond in a similar way
  • Proficient at business analysis \xe2\x80\x93 be able to make sense of large data sets & connect, manipulate, join, use them for analysis.
Soft Skills requirements:
  • Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas. Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and develop end to end solutions.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success
  • Maintain the level of communication/interaction across the team and direct manager including onshore business partners
  • Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
