We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of AVP \xe2\x80\x93 Information Management.

Principal responsibilities:

  • The role is responsible for helping the DCOO & Procurement functions make better decisions and drive mission critical business outcomes through unlocking business insights from data through collection of data requirements and analysis of data. Ensures business data and analysis requirements are met by applying industry standard data concepts and governance, including data structures, collection and cleansing, and structured and unstructured data analysis and reporting. Proficient in data collection, analysis, manipulation and use of data visualization techniques.
  • This role carries a niche requirement in terms of expertise in ETL techniques using Alteryx & data visualization using tools such as Tableau/Qliksense. The role will be responsible for analyzing data, building models and data pipelines, and test and implementation of data products to production. This role will work closely with IT, Data Architecture & Data Visualization specialists to ensure the requirements are built and deployed accurately leaving no room to error.
  • Work with business, data and IT stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into clear data requirements.
  • Perform deep analysis of structured and unstructured data across multiple data sources in line with requirements.
  • Develop data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, cleanse, and standardize data in order to generate actionable insights and address reporting needs. Using data mining techniques to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
  • Define data requirements and gathers and validates information, using judgment and statistical tests.
  • Support creation of Data Quality rules to bring data under formal governance and work with stakeholders to introduce system changes to improve data quality. Monitor data quality and report inconsistencies to the team.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise data usage, applying modelling and optimization methods to enhance data assets and reporting products. Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
  • Evaluate changes and updates to source production systems and quantify impact on live business intelligence products.
  • Proficient in using technologies including SQL, Python, Alteryx, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) e.g. Big Query
  • Design and deploy Tableau (and optionally Qliksense) output views on par with industry standards in terms of visual appeal, ease of usability and understanding.
  • Support migration of existing data sources, reports & insights to GCP.
  • Work closely with DCOO teams, Business Analysts and Project Leads to develop quality business intelligence products and solutions.
  • Extensive engagement with users (including senior management) for understanding & translating their requirements into user friendly dashboards / insights.
  • The incumbent will be expected to up-skill on an ongoing basis to also venture into Advanced Analytics and be familiar with data science languages like Python and R
  • Support DCOO Analytics Leads delivering business intelligence solutions. Preparing reports and presenting these to management or clients.
  • Identify and manage risk in the area of responsibility including resolve blockers and bottlenecks. Identifying and recommending new ways to save money by streamlining business processes.
  • Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements.
Requirements

Essential
  • Overall, 8 to 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in data engineering, migration, data warehouse and data related requirements gathering.
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience (as a data analyst, ETL developer or similar role) delivering data / analytics solutions using Agile with clearly demonstrable business outcomes
  • Ability to analyze existing products, databases and systems to provide solution recommendations.
  • Ability to compose requirements, data workflows, process workflows and design into clear documentation to enable rapid development.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complex datasets and databases.
  • Experience in implementing ETL processes including extracting, merging and incremental data loads.
  • Experience of working in Agile environments and use of JIRA.
  • Proficient in SQL, ETL framework (Alteryx or similar technology) Python, GCP, Tableau preferred.
  • Co-ordinate and oversee work to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple outputs at one time.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong understanding of the power and value of data with an ability to apply technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Self-starter who can operate independently and proactively or as part of a team with high energy levels, flexibility, enthusiasm and willingness to learn, resilient under pressure.
  • Capable of developing subject matter expertise in complex areas and demonstrating a resourceful, creative and inquisitive approach to highly complex tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and comfortable working with senior management; ability to articulate data concepts, problem statements and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a passion for research and data, keeping up to date on latest technologies and best practice in the marketplace and inspiring the same within the team.
  • Coaches fellow team members and support development of skills.
Desirable
  • Experience solving complex problems (incl. Design Thinking) where the problem statement / solution isn\xe2\x80\x99t clear.
  • Strong commercial acumen with an appreciation of how data can be relevant to support key business decisions around customer experience, cost, efficiency & revenue.
  • Industry / innovation knowledge on technology and tools in the BI / Analytics / Data domain including Cloud providers.
  • Good working knowledge of DCOO functional areas e.g. Corporate Real Estate, Transformation in a data, consulting or operational capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s data landscape, with a strategic view of the tools available and in use.
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
