We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of HR Business Support Head - India GSC/HTC

The HR Business Support Head - India GSC/TC should understand the business well enough to be able to articulate the people risks and issues within the business. They would typically partner with a more senior colleague to develop solutions which they would then implement.

The role reports to the Head of HR, India GSCs and Group functions , and is responsible for the planning and execution of HR products/services with emphasis on aligning products and services to Group People Priorities with minimal supervision.

The role operates at the assigned GSC/TC, primarily with the HRBP, but also partners with Delivery Services and Payroll teams. The role also offers guidance to senior HR Business Support colleagues at other GSC/TC locations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • The HR Business Support Head - India GSC/TC will lead and participate in business activities, supporting entity HR heads across GSC/TCs and Senior HR Managers with BAU & non-BAU activities, cyclical work pieces and short term initiatives. They are located in GSC/ teams and would roll up to the Head of HR, India GSCs and Group functions. The role may have expanded team lead responsibiltiies for the other GCB 4/5 Business support resources.
  • The role holder will support the implementation of global people strategy for the entity and governance and control framework within the GSC/TC remit including but not limited to
- Statutory & Internal Compliance

- Payroll Tasks and Responsibilities

- Employee Life Cycle Management

- Vendor Management

- Other Adminstrative Activities
  • Audit, Risk and Compliance support to ensure that GSC/TC is compliant to various HSBC FIM and GSM requirements, by reinforcing HSBC procedures
  • Ensure HSBC adheres to both internal compliance and external regulatory requirements
  • Enable the ongoing identification of operational and regulatory risk, ensuring clear mitigating plans are defined, tracked and implemented
  • Lead the India team for aspects related to Employee Life cycle management, HRMI, BCP and Statutory Compliance related projects.
  • Work in tandem with the site management and HRBP in support of employee life cycle by understanding requirements and execute solutions as appropriate.
  • Improve the consistency of service to our employees/customers through continuous process improvements - through continuous identification and improvement
  • Assisting with or Lead the execution of key strategic people transformation initiatives and activities in support of the GSC/TC location
  • Participate and support in HR planning activities which may include financial, technological and resource planning
  • Contribute to senior management decision making by use of management information, performance information, analytics, forums and stakeholder feedback
  • Investigating and seeking remedies for discrete issues which may be adversely affecting GSC/TC performance
  • Planning, support and governance processes that enable effective HR services / activities
  • Evaluate and analyze management information relating to external service providers of their provision, monitor their performance and ensure service level agreements are honored
  • Establishing governance for managing third party suppliers and processes, with assessment and adequate mitigation of risk.
  • Establishing HR functional areas are adequately resourced and structured to enable the Group's business and activities to be managed within the Group's risk appetite and its framework of internal controls programs, plans and objectives are set and subsequently achieved, with resources used efficiently and adequately protected
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support in forums and committees to represent view of HR
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Develop internal and external networks - bring internal / external insights to ensure market intelligence is provided to support HR in being more effective and efficient.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with HR colleagues and HR Service Delivery teams balancing challenge with support and delivery.
  • Facilitate opportunities for connectivity across the HR function leveraging expertise, deliver effectively for the entire team, avoiding duplication, shared good practice, simplifying processes, reducing bureaucracy, improving data quality issues and driving shared accountability.
  • Take personal responsibility for understanding and agreeing performance expectations, completing the necessary mandatory training and developing the levels of capability and competence
Major Challenges
  • The HSBC business is transforming and HR needs to follow the pace of transformation. The HR Business Support Head - India GSC/TC will need to be a change agent to support the transformation agenda, whilst simultaneously managing change internally. The matrixed nature of the business and hence the need to facilitate effective matrix-managed decisions.
  • Influencing business stakeholders to maintain regular and transparent communication and overall HR teams across the GSC/TC being supported.
  • Ensuring risk and control assessment is appropriately refreshed to support changing regulatory and business environments.
Role Dimensions
  • The job holder supports businesses strength ranging from 30000 - 35000 employees driving positive employee relations at the GSC/TC business for the following: -
  • Facilitate Strategic Support driving Group HR Priorities.
  • Supports the implementation of global strategy and governance and control framework within the GSC/ including but not limited to
  • Statutory & Internal Compliance, Payroll Tasks and Responsibilities, Employee Life Cycle Management, Vendor Management and Other Administrative Activities
  • Provide guidance and support to other HR Business Support leads at other GSC/'s as and when required.

Requirements

Requirements
  • Experience of working in an HR environment in a business partnering/HR generalist capacity supported by shared services and areas of expertise is a must
  • Deep understanding of the GSC/TC operations, employee demographics and associated risks/challenges to be able to execute on statutory labour compliance requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of HR FIM, GSC/TC Human Resources policies, procedures & practices and statutory guidelines
  • Accounting, Audit, Risk or Compliance experience
  • Sound oral and written communications skills, strong interpersonal skills, and assertive and professional demeanor with an ability to interact with diverse audiences
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, perform independently and work under strict guidelines
  • Ability to work under constant pressure
  • Ability to make rational decisions and navigate through complex scenarios with minimal guidance or supervision
  • Ability to influence Senior Leaders across multiple business lines
  • Analytical and review skills with the ability to draw the correct conclusions from reviews
  • 14-16 years of experience in HR, with a strong track record of establishing credibility and delivering results
  • Experience of implementing control frameworks within complex environments
  • Exposure to people related perspectives and industry practices
  • Exposure and understanding of employee life cycle including payroll, statutory & internal compliance activities
Preferred:
  • Graduate Degree in Human Resources or a related discipline
  • Vendor Management Experience
