With great innovation, market opportunities, and an audacious strategic intent, we are combining robotic assisted surgery platforms, connected devices, surgical instrumentation, advanced imaging, enhanced surgical visualization, surgical efficiency solutions, and OR workflow integration for the next generation Med Tech platform. As a result, we will also create new surgical insights, drive supply chain innovation, leverage cloud infrastructure, integrate cyber security, interface with hospital EMRs, and elevate our patient pathway franchise digital solutions. We will be the Global Med Tech supplier of choice for patients, surgeons, hospitals, strategic partners, as well as employees. Medical Devices Services, LLC, a division of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Director - Digital Surgery Engineering and Operations. This position can be based out of any of our J&J Global locations and will require regular travel to our Med Tech facilities in the San Francisco Bay area. Overview: We are looking for a Sr. Director for Med Tech Digital Surgery Platform to lead a large team of software and cloud engineers deliver our core-platform for digital surgery platform. With strong technical and leadership skills, this role will drive critical integrated capabilities across our platform. This candidate will be responsible for delivering global compliant solutions for JNJ Med Tech ecosystem, leveraging our tech partners, industry best practices, solid reference architecture and emerging technologies. The candidate will have a solid understanding of software development principles, program governance, regulatory requirements, and contemporary design to meet our franchise and customer expectations. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering next generation software and data products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for creating market-leading software that integrates automation, machine learning, data engineering, and governance best practices. This leader must possess servant leader qualities and have an effective approach to collaboration and innovation. Responsibilities: Define and drive on-going CI/CD automation process improvement reviews using Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics to eliminate errors, maximize software and product efficiencies and increase service up-time leading to an overall excellent customer experience. Ensure consistent implementation of an engineering 'system' across agile teams, inclusive of engineering practices, tool use, agile practices, and management and reporting. Drive continuous improvement of this system in collaboration with all its participants and stakeholders. Implement appropriate resource models for improved execution velocity, while effectively managing timelines and capacity. Lead, manage, and grow the DevOps team focused on developing multi-geo, multi-tenant secure deployments of Digital Surgery Platform. Drive the entire DevOps process with very strong emphasis on constantly improving product Security both in Dev and Ops stages. Lead architects, product owners, data professionals, and software & data engineers working on design and development of new applications, driving software and system optimizations, working on constantly improving system performance in development, test, and production environments. Drive continuous improvement in both quality and compliance using a range of appropriate tools and practices, including the thoughtful adoption and adaptation of new industry practices. Drive improvements in the consistency of compliance documentation/book-keeping and in the efficiency of compliance-related activities. Partner with HR, Recruitment, Procurement, and Technology Services colleagues to attract and hire the best talent needed to achieve program objectives. Implement an integrated support and operations model across support and engineering teams, that meets requirements and achieves objectives defined by product management, in partnership with selected support vendors. Compare solution alternatives across both technical and business parameters which support the defined cost and service requirements. Work effectively with business technology leadership, program and product management functions to align engineering activities and deliverable with product and costs objectives. Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, diversity, and respect across agile teams, and tackle psychological safety and other inhibitors to achieving such a culture. Qualifications Ideal Experience & Qualifications B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree with a minimum of 15+ years of experience in driving engineering & architecture activities (Cradle to Grave) as it relates to scaled deployment of a production full stack is a MUST HAVE. Seasoned People Manager with a track record of developing teams, nurturing talent, and developing technical leaders is a MUST HAVE. Proven track record of delivering and scaling product iterations using DevSecOps, Agile & CI/CD methodologies is a MUST HAVE. Proven track record of driving an in-production / on-the-market deployment of cloud-based data platform on Azure, AWS and/or GCP is a MUST HAVE. Experience and demonstrated understanding of product security, privacy and regulatory requirements for patient and healthcare data across regions, countries. Experience and clear understanding of principles and requirements of HITRUST certification framework and ISO 27001 requirements is desirable. Strong experience and work history in FHIR server & Data Interoperability (HAPI FHIR, Azure FHIR). Ability to execute in a complex and ambiguous environment. Highly skilled in building strong cross-functional partnerships, be influential and persuasive in a complex and diverse stakeholder environment. Negotiate constructively taking a data driven approach. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written and oral) are a MUST HAVE.
