Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Director of Engineering with a robust background in AI and Machine Learning (ML) engineering to lead our AI & ML engineering team in India. In partnership with other leaders within this org, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development and execution of PayPal\'s AI and ML engineering strategy, leading the team responsible for building our AI and ML products and promoting innovation and growth in our AI and ML capabilities and will be reporting to the VP of Data Technology. Your role will involve applying your extensive technical knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as collaborating with multiple stakeholders on a daily basis to maintain focus on shared objectives. Help set, vision, goals, strategy & time horizon across the team Ability to effect business impact and ROI, while driving efficiency, time to market and maintainability Inspire teams and bring transformation mindset to the team in a complex environment and Help to guide the team to adopt new technologies/tools/capabilities in a timely manner and translate them into solutions that align with our goals - short time to market, self-service oriented, top quality and on time. Build global teams to achieve organizational goals and passion for building an innovative culture Lead, support, inspire and motivate a high-performance team of Machine Learning and Platform Engineers Collaborate work effectively with technology and product peers in a 24/7 environment. Drive innovation and ensure maximizes the business benefits of adoption of market-leading technology capabilities Ensure new innovations are rapidly evaluated, piloted, and then scaled where appropriate, working closely with product owners This is a highly operational role that involves driving down outages and shortening time to resolution. Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills: Degree in computer science or any equivalent academic qualification with 20+ years of software application development experience Passion for leading and developing direct reports providing guidance, consultation, and opportunities towards improving their professional skill set ability to lead and influence direct reports remotely Experience in managing more than 100+ global teams in building application framework and/or platform development experience Deep knowledge in solution design patterns, building resilient solutions across on-premise applications and cloud including associated security considerations Background with Machine Learning Frameworks and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop. Experience in automating, tuning, and implementing ML Models. Working with Data structures and NLP models Experience defining application solution architectures and roadmap Ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Comfortable working in an Agile and collaborative environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
