The Analytics Foundation Services team, within Tableau CRM, is responsible for building platform components that make the product enterprise grade, and operate at cloud scale. These components are part of a distributed system providing foundation platform capabilities such as cluster management, orchestration, routing, caching, object and metadata stores, distributed file system, security, encryption, multi-substrate architecture, and more! Our products’ massive complexity requires our software engineers to be highly adaptive to new technology and methodologies, and having the strong ability to deliver reliable software services. You will have the opportunity to explore cutting edge open source and proprietary technologies to evolve the platform into a force multiplier and continue to be the foundation for the rest of our software stack. We currently leverage several open source technologies including Cassandra, Redis, Zookeeper, Kafka, Vert.x, K8s, S3, and Envoy among others.

As an engineering leader, your responsibilities include:

• Manage, hire, and nurture a world class team building the most reliable, available, and scalable distributed foundation platform for Tableau CRM.

• Work with Product Management and Architects to build a roadmap that continues to extend the platform and enable it to be a force multiplier.

• Drive execution and delivery by collaborating with cross functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers.

• Scrum Master for 2-3 engineering teams

• Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members

Experience/Skills required:

• Overall 15+yrs experience in Software engineering.Masters / Bachelors degree required in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Equivalent Experience

• 5+ years of people management experienceExperience in hiring smart, talented engineers

• Experience building and running distributed systems at scale

• Experience working on a product that’s been released for public consumption

• Experience and passion for service ownership, building reliable and self-healing services

• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices

• Experience with Agile development methodologies. Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experience in cloud computing technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)Experience in Java, GO, Vert.x, k8s, S3, Cassandra, Redis, Zookeeper, Git, Jenkins
