Job Description


As the Head of Sales Public Sector in the India market, you will be responsible for leading and driving the sales efforts of Freshworks within the public sector/government segment in India. Your primary objective will be to develop and implement strategies to maximize sales revenue, expand market share, and build strong relationships with key public sector clients in India. You will lead a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, motivation, and support to achieve sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service. The role requires a deep understanding of the Indian public sector landscape, including government agencies, educational institutions, and other public entities, along with the ability to navigate complex procurement processes and regulations specific to India. Responsibilities: Sales Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy tailored to the Indian public sector market, considering the unique needs and preferences of government agencies and public entities in India. Conduct market research to identify potential clients, market trends, and competitive insights specific to the Indian market. Define sales targets, revenue goals, and KPIs aligned with the company\'s overall business objectives in India. Collaborate with the executive team to align sales strategies with product development and marketing initiatives that resonate with the Indian market. Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a sales team in India, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring individual and team targets are met. Provide ongoing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance the team\'s sales skills and knowledge of the Indian market. Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement. Build a collaborative and cohesive sales team by fostering teamwork, communication, and a positive working environment suitable for the Indian context. Business Development and Client Relationship Management: Identify and target key accounts within the Indian public sector, including government agencies, educational institutions, and other public entities. Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and influencers in the Indian public sector to understand their specific needs and position the company\'s software solutions effectively. Lead and participate in sales presentations, negotiations, and contract discussions with a deep understanding of the Indian public sector procurement processes and regulations. Work closely with the marketing team to develop targeted marketing campaigns and promotional materials that resonate with the Indian market and its cultural nuances. Sales Performance Analysis and Reporting: Monitor sales performance against targets, analyze sales data, and generate regular reports for the executive team with a focus on the Indian market. Identify areas of improvement, sales opportunities, and potential risks specific to the Indian market, and recommend appropriate actions. Utilize CRM systems and other sales tools customized for the Indian market to track sales activities, manage customer information, and streamline the sales process. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and changes in the Indian public sector landscape that may impact sales strategies and tactics. Qualifications 15+ years of overallsales experience. 5+ years of experience selling into the Indian Public Sector segment. 5+ years of proven experience as a Sales Manager or in a senior sales role within the software industry, preferably in the Indian public sector market. Strong knowledge of the Indian public sector market, including government agencies, educational institutions, and other public entities, along with a deep understanding of the specific procurement processes and regulations in India. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing sales teams in the Indian market. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with an understanding of the cultural nuances and communication styles in India.
