Role Profile

Senior Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Application Management would be member of LSEG Post Trade Calypso Production Support team that handles the Level 2 support for primarily production and some of the other Non Production Environments.

This role is associated with the management of the testing, build and implementation of releases and also any independent infrastructure and environment support. Working in the wider Application Support Team \xe2\x80\x93 the focus will be on delivering the change program across all lifecycles from dev, test, uat to Member Test and Production environments. A production focused approach will be required with resilience, operational readiness, performance and production support being at the forefront of delivery.

Would be required to work on shift based work pattern as per to the monthly rota. Out of hours support overnight and across weekends and Bank Holidays is frequently needed. Should be able to provide on-call support.

Strong business knowledge is required for working with business teams during investigations.

They need to be SME in the underlying technologies used by the applications. They are required to provide detailed technical support for developers producing bug fixes & new releases of these applications.

Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritise workload.

Key Responsibilities

Support of the LSEG Post Trade / London Clearing House (LCH) applications related to Shared Services Platforms / Clearing Services which is part of London financial market infrastructure.

  • Support Incidents and Problems
  • Analyze problems and decide on suitable resolutions
  • Analyze wider infrastructure issues for potential impacts on underlying applications
  • Apply resolutions following the LCH Change Management procedure
  • Report status to relevant business and IT teams
  • Record progress of incident resolution in ServiceNow
  • Follow detailed incident management procedures
  • Monitor ServiceNow for Incidents and Problems
  • Bug fixes and improvements to LCH products
  • Analyze and update system monitoring tools for current health and potential future points of failure
  • Identify longer term fixes for application bugs and small functionality improvement requests
  • Creating metrics to measure the efficiency of the system
  • Implement application fixes
  • Update Bitbucket with source code changes where vital
  • Update relevant WIKI/ documentation with changes
  • Provide input to the Release process for new releases
  • Work to the ITIL standard following LCH policies
  • Maintain working relationship with business partners
  • Should be willing to work on Morning, Day or Night shift based on UK time according to monthly roster
  • Out of hours support / On-call support
  • Be available for overnight support of production services to ensure successful completion of processing
  • Respond to overnight calls and look after issues
  • Support weekend releases and maintenance work
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises
  • Assist in project related work
  • Carry out requirements as defined
  • Provide advice during bug fixes, design and implementation
  • Act as SME for the application and infrastructure domains
  • Quality check potential changes
  • Review development release packages prior to production deployment
  • Provide benefit of experience in the business area and application support
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education:
  • Degree educated, preferably in a technical field
Required skills and experience
  • Proficiency in Calypso architecture and functionalities
  • Keen knowledge on handling EOD and Intra Day Batch Support.
  • Preferable to have Control M experience.
  • Strong UNIX/Linux System Administration skills
  • Knowledge of Network Diagnostics, DNS Servers, Web Servers and firewall connectivity analysis (Preferred)
  • Windows Directory permissions management
  • Strong Oracle Database/SQL skills
  • Functional knowledge of Red Hat JBoss EAP (or equivalent Web Server technology)
  • Scripting ability (Shell scripting, Python)
  • Experience with IBM MQ
  • Solid grasp of DataDog, ITRS Geneos, Accenture CalMon tool.
  • Hands-on in version control repository (Ideally Bitbucket)
  • Exposure to Jenkins, CI/CD, Ansible and AWS Cloud Technologies will be an added advantage
Person Specification
  • Experience of working in an IT support team (application / infrastructure)
  • Excellent analytical skills, Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven technical experience in core technologies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to IT and business teams and to senior management
  • Familiarity with financial products and terminology.
  • Willing to embrace Hybrid working mode and work in Bangalore Office
  • Good to have ITIL or AWS certification
  • Experience in Financial or an investment banking environment or clearing service environment
  • Knowledge of Trade Life Cycle services
