What are we looking for?:
Taylor & Francis are looking for a Regional Marketing Director – Open Research to join our Researcher Services (Open Access) Marketing Department. Working closely with the Marketing Leadership team, this role takes full ownership and accountability for setting the digital marketing strategy, delivering, and reporting on the key outputs for the South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa region. You will own the development of marketing to existing customers and new audiences, with a clear focus on ensuring we receive enough article submissions from researchers to meet our growth targets for our open access and subscription titles. Managing a team of highly capable B2C marketers, this is a wonderful opportunity to provide inspirational leadership and shape the future direction for a key growth area of our business. The role is regionally focused, working with cross functional management teams to develop the organization’s capability in their area of expertise and ensuring that the best practice you set, and advocate is regionally and globally consistent. Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the strategic development of digital marketing activities, partnering with other senior leaders across the organization to develop and deliver an impactful regional marketing strategy.
  • Contribute to the setting of the organizational culture, acting as an ambassador both internally and externally and leading by example
  • Lead a team of Omni-channel Marketeers to create valuable, engaging, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience
  • Define and oversee the delivery of, and reporting on, the departmental/functional talent development strategy, including workforce planning, career development and succession planning
  • Work with Global directors, ELT, and ORL on projects across the business to deliver on corporate objectives and opportunities
  • Lead the delivery of initiatives that grow capability and skills in their area
  • Lead, performance manage and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of high-level digital marketing performance, motivation, quality, efficiency, and innovation in the team helping to encourage new ideas and constructive feedback
  • Lead the Senior Management team, ensuring objectives are clear and team are supported and incentivised to achieve goals
  • Use insight gained from data analysis of marketing campaigns to inform proposals, decisions, and recommendations for action or change to senior leadership
  • Define measurable KPIs for the region and lead regional teams to deliver against these KPIs – including measure and report on progress linking to the achievement of organizational objectives
  • Ensure agreed objectives and KPIs (I.e., revenue, opportunities, partners, levels of awareness, submissions, etc) relating to the development of their regional area are met
  • Provide guidance, training and mentoring to others across the larger marketing team
  • Build effective long-term & strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Set best practice and policy, and where necessary develop and maintain documentation of key policies and processes
  • Contribute to driving a culture of high-performance and continuous improvement throughout the organization through demonstrating how to effectively develop and grow expert capabilities
  • Ensure the best practice they set, and advocate, is carried out globally and regionally
  • Periodic attendance at personal development training, conferences, and exhibitions to represent the organization and stay up to date on industry best practice relating to area of expertise
  • Fully accountable for managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps. Ensures channel marketing knowledge is always current, acting as a ‘trend-spotter’ within the department.


Qualifications
Knowledge and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Will have a digital mindset and proven ability to use data to make business decisions and set regional digital marketing strategy
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing a high performing digital marketing team and define and deliver against measurable KPIs (I.e., revenue, opportunities, partners, levels of awareness, submissions, etc.)
  • Proven track record in developing, managing, and implementing regional marketing strategies in new markets to deliver business growth within a global business
  • Proven ability to use data analytics and best practices of marketing to analyse/evaluate the effectiveness of current marketing campaigns and using data to form proposals and recommendations for senior leadership to decide better regional strategy
  • Demonstrable experience in driving innovation and product and/or service development through market awareness and customer engagement
  • Proven knowledge and experience in B2C digital marketing and user experience
  • Solid experience leading change and transformation initiatives, and driving strategies that foster continuous evolution and improvement
  • Experience managing P&Ls and departmental/functional budgets

  • Synthesizes customer and market data from multiple sources to develop and drive key initiatives across the business and within the region

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of new marketing/industry trends
  • Uses financial calculations to justify, manage, and approve expenditure and investment
