What you'll be doing...

This Principal Virtualization Engineer role provides critical services to both internal and external customers. You'll oversee lifecycle aspects of multiple service environments, acting as the owner for those systems. You'll also understand and manage the interrelationships between the various products and the infrastructure systems. We take pride in our well-organized, well-documented, stable, and compliant infrastructure environments, and you'll get to play a key role.

• Provide operational support on VMWare platform including vCenter, ESXi servers, vRealize Automation, Cisco SAN systems (e.g. EMC, MDS switches)
• Configuration and management of Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) - Blades server and Hyperflex
• System upgrade and patching of vCenter, ESXi host, N1kv, EMC SAN, Fabric Interconnect, Cisco Hyperflex, Cisco UCS Manager
• Provide datacenter virtualization expertise including capability to installation, configuration and management of HA and scalable virtual infrastructure in a geo-redundant environment
• Plan, implement, administer virtual server configurations as well as configure and manage virtual networks and associated storage
• Establish and maintain service levels; perform basic troubleshooting; monitor vSphere implementations.
• Provide input on data protection, access, authentication control, resource management, monitoring, high availability, fault tolerance and scalable virtualized infrastructure solution.

Where you'll be working...
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience on Storage, Data Center virtualization and VMware solutions
• Strong EMC Storage experience and transport knowledge (FCoE, iSCSI, etc), replication, backup, and performance
• Knowledge on Scripting; PS, Python, JS, Shell

Proficiency with VMware technologies, including ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, vRealize Automation * Hands-on experience in Routing and Switching protocols like BGP, Data Center devices like Nexus 7k/9k and Firepower ASA

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Route/Switch.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and resolve urgent issues.
• Ability to effectively interface with customer employees, Program Office employees, other Verizon employees and Senior Management.
• Ability to provide critical information in a clear, concise and quick manner.
• Excellent customer service and support skills.
• Strong written / verbal communication.
