Job Title: Learning and Development Associate/Manager Location: Ahmedabad Nature of work: Full-time Experience required: 3-8 years Background Most rural households rely not just on one source of income for their everyday needs. A 2019\'s situational assessment report shows income from crop husbandry is just 37% of the total income, and the remaining comes from various other activities. Within crop husbandry too, farmers cultivate multiple crops - often subjected to numerous uncertainties. Therefore, creating sustainable livelihoods needs a comprehensive approach i.e., working on both crop husbandry and supplementary income-generating activities.To this end, RUDI - a social enterprise promoted by SEWA has been working, is attempting to brick various entities together, and to create an ecosystem to create that promotes sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural households.The idea of setting up the RUDI or Rural Distribution Network is to internally rotate the scarce funds of the rural producers in a way that fetches maximum benefit and brings about positive changes in their lives and to provide multi-user facilities, reduce incidental expenses, and build-up an integrated value chain in order to enhance the efficiency of agricultural activities, to reduce the hardships of the producers, processors and to create multiple employment opportunities and an efficient supply of agro-products to rural members About SEWA The Self Employed Women\'s Association [SEWA] is a Central Trade Union organizing women workers of the informal economy since 1972 with a twin goal of full employment and self-reliance. SEWA has adopted an approach of struggle and development. Struggle in the sense of organizing workers for VOICE, VISIBILITY and VALIDATION and development by building their capacities and institutions - RUDI is one of the several such entities at SEWA. About Nirantar SEWA Nirantar SEWA is a 360-degree transformation plan for SEWA that would take a phased, systematic approach to enable SEWA to expand its membership base across India and significantly improve its service offerings. A key objective of Nirantar SEWA is to scale-up SEWA\'s social enterprises\' business, which are into selling agricultural commodities, apparel, products made from recycled material and green-energy solutions. Role and Responsibilities:Overview The Learning & Development role at Nirantar SEWA plays a critical role in enhancing the capacity and skills of SEWA\'s grassroots members and employees. This position involves designing, implementing, and evaluating impactful training programs across multiple Social Enterprises and SEWA Projects. The focus is on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and fostering socio-economic growth through professional development. Develop and implement learning modules tailored for producer groups, grassroots sales executives, and SEWA/Nirantar SEWA staff, addressing identified skill and knowledge gaps. Craft and execute learning strategies and policies that align with organizational goals, ensuring that learning initiatives contribute significantly to SEWA\'s overall success. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders to enhance training effectiveness and extend outreach. Work closely with employees, managers, other departments, and grassroots members , fostering effective communication and collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of L&D programs. Employ a data-driven approach to assess training effectiveness , focusing on metrics such as skill acquisition, participant engagement, and the socio-economic impact on incomes and livelihoods. Conduct thorough needs assessments , performance evaluations, and surveys to identify gaps in employee skills and competencies, pinpointing precise areas for development. Analyze the socio-economic benefits of L&D initiatives , including post-training improvements in sales performance and income for grassroots members. Performance Indicators Quality and number of training modules created and conducted. Skill acquisition and learning satisfaction through pre and post-evaluations. Comprehensive reports on participation rates, engagement levels, and the tangible impacts of L&D activities on enhancing incomes and livelihoods. Qualifications and Skills: Graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, organizational psychology, instructional design, adult learning). 3-6 years of experience in L&D, ideally within a social impact or development context. Proven ability to design engaging educational content and manage comprehensive training programs. Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in Gujarati preferred. Willingness to travel for on-ground training sessions.
