JOB PURPOSE

The role of Process Engineer is to work with multi-disciplinary internal and external teams to develop and optimize process design packages, support SABIC's technology licensees during FEED, EPC and provide technical support during start-ups and operations. The role include leading activities in the preparation of the design packages and other related tasks. The Process Engineer may also be working with Technology Development and R&D teams and other business units to evaluate inquiries from potential clients as well as preparing required documents for developing new technologies within SABIC.

Job Responsibilities

  • Skill in developing project scope, plan, monitor, manage and change control for projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering codes, best practices and applicable national and international regulations in process engineering discipline in order to apply the standards and regulations.
  • Able to do risk assessment for the project as well as license ability of developed technologies and provide mitigation plan.
  • Document the lessons learnt while executing the project and share best practices for future improvement in the all steps of project execution.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of process engineering such as equipment design, engineering software & calculation so as to be able to develop and approve design, engineering deliverables and equipment supplier evaluation. Strong knowledge to develop/review engineering drawings/equipment datasheets.
  • In-depth understanding of the hazardous and toxic properties of processes and participates in developing required mitigation actions. Strong knowledge in relief devices design by analyzing relief scenarios and load calculation for plant safety.
  • Support during FEED, EPC and plant commissioning and start-up.
  • Technical expertise to coach/teach with the purpose of developing others.
  • Clear understanding of capex cost estimation terminology, methods and tools to estimate cost for projects. Able to estimate total installed cost for the project with right assumptions and generate reports.
  • In-depth knowledge by participating in different engineering reviews related to safety like HAZID,PHA,HAZOP, Health and operability assessments etc... and provides solutions to the findings from these reviews to reduce the impact.
  • Collaborate with the project team members and other stakeholders to gather relevant information to complete the assigned task.
  • Lead the project team in various project reviews like PFD/PID/PHA/Final PDP, and actively contribute to achieve the functional objectives.
  • Coach the team and prepare the deliverables in the prescribed standardized format. Monitor the quality of deliverables submitted to stakeholders by managing the revisions.
  • Good knowledge of engineering, value engineering, other applicable value improvement processes and best practices relevant to process engineering discipline and propose ideas/suggestion during various stages of project reviews.
  • Review existing design/technology and suggests options to improve the technology by right equipment selection, appropriate design and process configuration as applicable for the specific technology and obtain agreement with proper stakeholders.
  • Develop tools and templates required to execute the project in quality and timely manner.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS INTERNAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • B.Tech in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience is needed.
  • Experience of handling major PDP, CDP, FEED and Detailed Engineering Activities including exposure to plant and Project implementation.
  • Experience in process simulation and different Petrochemical technologies
  • Experience in project engineering or operations is desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Process simulators such as Aspen, Hysis, Line hydraulic calculation software, Relief load calculation software, etc.
