Job Description


Job Purpose:

Instructional Designer analyzes the global training needs for client-based programs. Works closely with clients to assess, develop, and implement training content and delivery mechanisms (instructor-led, virtual, digitalization, etc.). Evaluates and administers alternative training methods and develops standard training materials using various multi- media formats. Assess content development effectiveness to enhance training content as needed. Partner with Operations and Clients to build knowledge checks when needed, assess results, and recommend training needed as an outcome. Create engaging training course content (videos, quizzes, gamification, etc.), conduct skills gap analyses, design detailed educational curriculums, including dates, topics and hours required per course and/or learning channel. Combines the art of engaging learning experiences with the science of how people learn to ensure Tech Data colleagues receives development in a format that is effective and meaningful for them and the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative curriculums, programs, or learning solutions aligned with strategic priorities (Next Generation Skills & Capabilities) and key results. (10%)
  • Design impactful instructional material that focuses on skill development and behavior change that will drive business impact. (10%)
  • Align learning solutions with course objectives and learner needs; and procures content from multiple internal and external content to SCORM wrap and set-up into respective learning channels for organization, tracking, and competency model alignment. (10%)
  • Analyzes the training needs for client-based programs (e.g. Cloud, IoT, Digital Transformation, Security). Works closely with clients to assess, develop, and implement training materials. (10%)
  • Ensure the production of quality training courseware for global facilitators and participants of learning programs. (10%)
  • Collaborate with others to create prototypes, iterate, and seek feedback from product owners, team members, and stakeholders throughout the design process. (10%)
  • Develop evaluations of content that are linked to the performance objectives to aid in validating content effectiveness (10%)
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, etc) and utilizes LMS (e.g. Workday) to house, deploy, segment, and track training. (30%)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • 3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor\'s Degree with Instructional design, educational technology or similar field of study preferred.
  • Other Education / Certifications: Workday, Cornerstone, PeopleSoft, and/or Oracle LMS experience: Adult Learning Techniques, Learning Strategies
  • Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.
  • Possesses strong data entry skills.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Able to negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.
  • Possesses strong multi-cultural interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses strong leadership skills with a willingness to lead, create new ideas, and be assertive.
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.
  • Able to exhibit ability to be sensitive to the needs, concerns, and feelings of others
