Year    Remote, India

Job Description

WatchGuard embraces a Flexible Work Philosophy. Most of our employees can choose to work from the office, at home, or any combination of the two. We’ve built a global workforce of outstanding team members and a flexible culture built on trust, collaboration, and belonging.

  • This role can be located remote anywhere in India

Who You are:

You are a senior level cloud managed Wi-Fi Access Points architect who has built systems with generations of transmission protocols (802.11n, ac, ax etc.), Wireless Intrusion Detection and Prevention System, WPA2/WPA3 authentication and understands Packet captures of wired and wireless frames for troubleshooting needs. You are also Certified in CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) and/or CWDP (Design), and/or CWAP (Analysis) (https://www.cwnp.com/)

You come with proven experience of working with globally distributed teams using Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence. You are also extremely comfortable with AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud technologies and have solid mid-level Linux environment-based development experience using C/C++ with Linux device drivers and a good Command over Networking (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, DNS, ARP etc.). You have also done some Python development for both Cloud backend and Access Point Agents.

You are inquisitive, you love learning, you know how to get to the right answers even if you do not know them to start with. You are completely at ease in providing status updates to managers without prompting and mentoring our experienced engineers when they need assistance. You also love working with UX (User Experience) designers and Product Managers to weigh the pros and cons of architectural choices, and resolve product requirement questions, while supporting QA (Quality Assurance) as necessary to isolate and resolve issues.

You have the knack for innovation; you are driven by the desire to help our customers/partners succeed. You also embody the other human values that we care about most (accountability, belonging, bias for action).

What to expect as a “Wi-Fi Architect” in WatchGuard:

This Wi-Fi Access Points skills focused architect level role is one of the most significant positions in our “Secure Wi-Fi” engineering team, and as you ramp up in your responsibilities you would be critical in helping us achieve the following main objectives:
A Typical “Day in the Life of Wi-Fi Architect” in WatchGuard:

As our key “Architect” who brings the best of Secure Cloud Managed Wi-Fi Solutions architecture and development to WatchGuard, you are the default go-to person for every member of our globally distributed team. You might begin your day by meeting with your product /market owner to help them with specifications (and/or estimations) related to the new services that they want to offer to the customers. Then you move on to check on the code written by your team mates to review for consistency/compliance with the best practices/standards. You might see a request from our customer support team for some issues/requests coming from our partners that might prompt you to dive in to your “research-oriented attitude” and either find more efficient technologies and/or protocols to satisfy the asks in front of you.

You are also looking out for what our competition is up to which then leads you to write a compelling argument on what we should be doing next to best position our Secure Wi-Fi offerings. In between, you are also writing code for solving the most technical aspects of Wireless access points and their communication with our MSSP/MSP focused WatchGuard Cloud (which is our unified user interface for our partners and customers to supervise/handle all security services that we provide as a company).

In addition, you are pinged rather frequently by our “Secure Wi-Fi program manager” who is responsible for keeping the stakeholders in the loop re. the efforts / timelines / dependencies / cross team collaborations, and you are the best resource to determine the upcoming launch timelines, assignments, and deadlines for each component. And if that was not enough fun so far, then you can also trust the latter part of your day to provide more excitement as you interact with our China based QA team for their concerns / triaging / performance tests / comparisons of different hardware etc. while also maintaining a close working relationship (and a daily dialog) with our OEM/ODM vendors based out of Asia for our Wi-Fi product line.
