The Role


job description The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world. The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment and Asset Management with:
  • shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and news way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programmes like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.
  • providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results
  • helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them
  • sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes. Purpose & Accountabilities
  • The role of a Margin Optimization tools specialist is expected to be a Hybrid resource who can translate business needs effectively into a tools requirement. His/her task will be to develop, maintain, support users on a list of niche Shell tools used in Margin optimization – planning space across our assets.
  • Understand, develop and support tools from a business and software perspective and support end users to enable them to use the tool.
  • Maintain a work list of business requirements, development items and known issues in the tool and prioritize resolution in discussion with Margin optimization advisor in Margin Optimization and Ops team.
  • Responsible for developing and owning a systematic release plan to update these tools on a regular basis
  • Manage the tool lifecycle (from development to decommissioning)
  • Be the main person to maintain and update knowledge base in SharePoint around these tools and effectively communicate the changes to users
  • Collaborate with Shell IT to troubleshoot issues.
  • Engage with Asset users to develop and/or support automating processes based on business requirements
Dimensions
  • No Annual budgets which you directly control but can have influence over department and production area budgets.
  • No direct staff, but the candidate is expected to coach/mentor less experienced staff
Skills & Requirements Chemical Engineering Degree or Other Engineering degree with relevant refinery oil and gas domain software development experience.
  • More than 8 years of experience either in refinery planning and scheduling space working with planning tools or Software Industry associated with developing product and tools for Refinery Planning and Scheduling space
  • Must be an advanced PIMS user who has hands on experience in working with the tool and has experience to build & understand programmatic interfaces with PIMS
  • Must be a an advanced user of Excel who could manage and develop complex Macros.
  • Must have hands on experience working with computer languages (C#, VB.NET) and Databases (SQL, MS access)
  • Understanding of newer IT technologies, Data Analysis techniques and data visualizations is desirable.
  • Refinery Process Engineering experience or Experience in Refinery Economics, Planning & Scheduling is desirable
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • Team player and self-motivated.
  • A high level of comfort in using computer-based tools as well as unit simulators. Advanced spreadsheet skill required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, analytical skills and attention to details are essential to build a strong team and working spirit within the team.
  • Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset
  • Flexibility to move quickly across changing priorities and manage multiple Projects/Programmes
  • Ability to independently, resourcefully, and creatively research and implement new solutions
  • A good understanding of the Upstream/DS/IG business and how it works.
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within different cultural settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.
