Job Description


Responsibilities:

  • Technical Lead, Firmware will be responsible for the FW technical deliverables of embedded projects delivered from India engineering Center for LPD Business Unit.
  • He/ She will also be responsible for providing Design Ownership for NPD/NPIs & sustenance projects and deliver the Products with right quality and schedule.
  • Role demands strong Embedded Product Design expertise combined with Team and Global stake holder management, co-ordination and this is not a people Manager role
  • He/she should be a hands-on person and should be ready to lead/work on projects when a need arises.
Candidate Requirement: Technical Competencies:
  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering or related field or equivalent.
  • 15+ years overall experience with strong technical experience in Product design, architecture and implementation. Also should have demonstrated proficiency in working with system/software/Firmware requirements development and validation with below experience:
    • Should have good Techncial management experience for delivering medium or high complex end to end projects. Deliver designs to schedule, accountable for meeting deadlines, following up on outstanding issues and tracking project issues to resolution
    • Must have implemented at least 2 Products from Requirements to Production
    • Significant experience with Firmware Design and Development, Verification
    • Hands on experience in Embedded Systems/Products Development & Testing
    • Proven track record to define and streamline strong delivery process
    • Experience in handling multiple technical deliveries in parallel
    • Aware of different micro controllers/processors & clearly understands critical architectures.
    • Able to independently write complex C (must)and C++ (preferred)programs.
    • Experience in application development and device driver development
    • Experience with bare metal and RTOS/VxWorks is required
    • Experience in Board bring up and OS/Application porting across platforms
    • Experience on Analog/Digital sensor interfaces, PID algorithm based control system applications is required
    • Very good with data structures, design patterns, object-oriented design and algorithms used in programming.
    • Very strong with Serial interfaces, Experienced in various bus interfaces like CAN, SPI and I2C, RS-232,RS-485, Ethernet protocol implementation
    • Designing and understanding software architectures and application layers
    • Strong knowledge of Software & Firmware Engineering principles, bear metal and RTOS based Product designs, FW porting across platforms
    • Strong knowledge /experience with embedded systems firmware development for sensors & control application algorithm developments.
  • Self-driven, creative and can work independently to drive timely closure on projects/activities with high quality.
  • Clearly understands different options & utilizes optimization techniques
  • Can define infra needs & clearly knows deployment schemes.
  • Hands on with lab equipment like DSO, Logic analyzer, Function generator, etc
  • Knowledge of project Management tools eg Microsoft Project, SharePoint, etc
  • Excellent understanding of various phases of New Product Development/Change Control
  • Strong board level troubleshooting skills and understanding of hardware-software interaction
  • Experience gate / technical review process, good at documentation for technical solution
  • Capable of analyzing the root cause when there is a failure related to electrical component and can provide the mitigation and long-term solution;
  • Familiar with knowledge of CE, UL, RoHS regulatory requirements for Lab/Refrigeration products
  • Experience in defining production test specification and Functional test specification
  • Reviews design concepts, trade off analysis in meeting the technical specs and product requirements.
  • Capable of guiding the team on possible failure modes in the design & applicable fixes before going for testing.
  • Reviews test plans, test results, design changes and provides inputs to meet the technical & product requirements.
  • Design review for functional, performance, EMI/EMC, and other aspects like (DFR/DFM/DFT). Guide team on various design documents & artifacts as per design process
  • Provide guidance & challenges design approaches to improve design robustness
  • Excellent problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities
  • Establishes processes & procedures that enable knowledge sharing
  • Capable of reviewing designs & can clearly relate different design architectures with compliance challenges.
  • Can work with design team to identify potential failure modes & provide mitigation strategies
  • Reviews design concepts, trade off analysis in meeting the technical specs and product requirements.

  • Can work with the team to mentor on effective task planning, defect handling, tracking
  • Can identify early certification risks
  • Is a domain expert & capable of giving clear estimates & risks
