Senior Engineer, Application Management, Dev Ops

Role Profile

The team is part of the On-Line Services department that provides support to LCH Portal and member reporting which hosts numerous business line applications, the Portal infrastructure is hosted on a combination of AWS technologies and Linux.

This role is to perform DevOps activities with the responsibilities listed below.

Out of hours support and weekend on-call support may need when there is a requirement.

Needs to be subject matter experts in cloud and DevOps technologies such as AWS, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes and Docker.

Willingness to learn business domain as domain knowledge needed to work with business teams during investigations.

Must be self-motivating with the ability to prioritise workload amongst the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on the new infrastructure development
  • Analyse and implement fix for infrastructure issues
  • Work collaboratively with application developers from infrastructure perspective.
  • Create deployment pipelines.
  • Support application support team with L3 level queries/issues.
  • Test infrastructure implementations
  • Assist and support in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
  • Adhere to ITIL governance.
  • Contribute to process improvement, automations and documentation.
  • Ensure effective, pro-active monitoring and management is in place for systems.
  • Liaise with 3rd party organizations to resolve incident and problem investigations while understanding all 3rd party escalation processes.
  • Contribute to KT and maintain knowledge repository.
  • Bring technical innovation to resolve existing problem/to improve the service
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in related field (IT/Software engineering or Computer science)
Required skills and experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in infrastructure engineering/DevOps
  • AWS certified associate with minimum one year experience in AWS.
  • Hand-on in Jenkins Pipeline
  • Strong knowledge in Ansible and Terraform
  • Knowledge in Kubernetes and Docker
  • Working experience in UNIX/Linux environment
  • Scripting skills (UNIX shell scripting)
  • Beneficial skills, experience and certifications:
  • ForgeRock Identity Gateway
  • Load balancer
  • Security related products ideally OpenAM
  • User management software, ideally LDAP
  • Experience in DataDog
  • Scheduling Tools, ideally Control-M
  • ITIL qualification
Person Specification
  • Experience in a Post Trade or Clearing service environment
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience of working in an IT support team
  • Must be an excellent team player and put the interests of the team/company above personal goals.
  • Strong technical background in the core technologies with multiple years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written). Must be clear and concise in explaining technical issues to management, business and IT teams.
