The Role We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an MQ Administrator in the CIO Hybrid Cloud Domain. In this role, you will be responsible for modifying and re-designing configurations and applications to address identified issues. Your expertise will be vital in managing, configuring, and monitoring various components such as MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log files, and Dead Letter Queues. Additionally, you will play a key role in setting up IBM WebSphere MQ in a cluster environment, ensuring both load balancing and failover capabilities. As an MQ Administrator, you will adhere to best practices for the setup, monitoring, and usage of IBM WebSphere MQ. You will provide impact analysis for newer versions, develop upgrade paths, and meticulously plan and execute server upgrades with the appropriate versions and patches. Another crucial aspect of your role will involve establishing robust security measures for WebSphere MQ servers, as well as securing the queues and applications that access the system. Proficiency in writing and editing UNIX shell scripts is essential for success in this role, as it will enable you to automate tasks and enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, as a member of our rotational support team, you will be expected to provide off-hours on-call support, ensuring prompt resolution of any MQ-related issues. Who You Are MQ Infrastructure Management: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage, configure, and monitor critical MQ components, including MQ Listeners, Command Servers, Channel initiators, Trigger Monitors, MQ Log files, and Dead Letter Queues. Proficiency in optimizing their performance and ensuring their smooth operation. Cluster Environment Setup: Extensive experience in setting up IBM WebSphere MQ in a cluster environment to enable efficient load balancing and failover capabilities. Strong understanding of the technical requirements and best practices associated with establishing and maintaining a reliable cluster configuration. WebSphere MQ Best Practices: In-depth knowledge of IBM WebSphere MQ best practices for setup, monitoring, and usage. Demonstrated expertise in implementing and adhering to industry-leading guidelines to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the MQ infrastructure. Version Management and Upgrades: Proven track record of conducting impact analyses for newer versions of IBM WebSphere MQ, providing well-researched upgrade paths, and effectively planning and executing version upgrades on servers. Adept at applying the appropriate versions and patches to maintain a secure and up-to-date MQ environment. Security Implementation: Proficiency in establishing robust security measures for WebSphere MQ servers, as well as securing the queues and applications that interact with the MQ infrastructure. Familiarity with industry-standard security protocols and practices to protect the integrity and confidentiality of MQ data. UNIX Shell Scripting: Advanced skills in writing and editing UNIX shell scripts, enabling automation and streamlining of MQ-related tasks. The ability to leverage scripting capabilities to enhance operational efficiency and productivity within the MQ environment. Off-Hours Support and Team Collaboration: Availability and willingness to work in a rotational on-call support capacity, providing assistance during off-hours to address critical MQ issues. Effective collaboration and teamwork as a member of a support team, ensuring prompt and reliable support for MQ-related incidents and requests.
