Process and Quality Improvements in Steelmaking & Casting Problem Solving - Chronic Defects, Debottlenecking and Productivity ImprovementTechnology Management & Capability Development - Active participation in technology survey, selection, performance guarantee trials and stabilization etc. New Product Development - Process design and overall cross functional coordination with key stakeholders (e.g. other TGs, Planning, Marketing & Sales, R&D etc.) and conducting trials at SMS Technical Communications- Write technical notes & white papers and make presentation on Steelmaking & Casting Technology Problems and Issues Customer Complaints - Resolution of Steelmaking & Casting related internal and external complaints/claims Discussion with operations and conduct trials for development of new product requirements from the market Building technical capability through providing technical training to SMS Initiate projects with CFTs to drive process improvements Skills Executing trials at SMS for development of New Product Collect and analyse plant data to assess internal process and product capability Identify Negative Impacts Risks and implement plan to overcome risk Organize and execute safe and cost-effective trials for new product developments Testing and Product Characterization as per customer Requirements Creation of Technical Delivery Condition (TDC) Solving of chronic issues Literature survey related to chronic defects. Plant data collection related to chronic defects Analysis of the data to arrive at possible root cause & corrective action Taking trials to validate the corrective action. Improvement in Process & Product Benchmarking of existing products & processes. Support process related problem solving Responsible for innovating existing systems and processes to reduce variability, and improve automation Propose cost effective technological up gradation in Flat Products. Technical note writing Scanning of technical journals, internet Technical conference proceedings etc. Training Preparation of technical presentation hand-outs for SMS training and imparting training & taking knowledge sharing sessions for associates Other details Educational qualifications B.E. / BTech or Equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering or M Tech / ME in Metallurgical Engineering Relevant experience Experience in Technology or Quality Assurance or Operations or Research in SMS
