About the Role Uber Advertising\'s vision is to offer the most marketplace-centric advertising to connect Uber\'s platform users (eaters, riders, and earners) with advertisers. Uber Advertising\'s platform brings together location-based and shopping data with closed-loop attribution across its mobility and delivery channels for performance and brand campaigns, enabling advertisers to engage with our consumers through the entire marketing funnel - from awareness through purchase to loyalty and advocacy for Uber users. As an Sr Engineering Manager on the Ads team, you will be responsible for leading a talented team of software engineers in designing, building and scaling Uber\'s ad offerings What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points ---- What the Candidate Will Do ---- You will conceptualize, build, improve and operationalize systems to a standard that dependent teams are eager to take ownership of the capability that you pioneered. In partnership with your product manager, you will engage with critical stakeholders to mutually ideate, intake, prioritize, plan and deliver projects that move our whole business. You will work every day to attract, retain and grow strong engineering leaders, across every competency that it takes to succeed at Uber. ---- Basic Qualifications ---- Strong people skills and technical capabilities: an in-depth understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem-solving acuity to own sophisticated technical challenges. 6+ years in leading engineering teams through technical leads. 9+ years of relevant software engineering experience. Experience working with multi-functional, globally distributed teams to coordinate work and deliver solutions that span multiple teams. Collaboration with PMs, designers, data scientists, and platform teams to identify, prioritize and tackle problems. Experience supporting team actively via career mentor & development, handling performance & conflicts, and influencing cross-functional teams. Proven record of building strong context through sharing information and goals to push down decision-making to the team. Proven record of managing, recruiting, and retaining strong engineering talent and growing effective teams. ---- What the Candidate Will Do ---- Experience working in Ads domain Technical expertise in both server-side and mobile engineering. Leadership experience in a product team and/or a growth team. Working in fast-paced environments with dynamic product requirements.
