Lab Engineer

Required experience and skills:

Hands-on experience in the following domain (must have):

• Enterprise servers (HPE, DELL and Airframe) hands-on exposure
• Enterprise IP routers , switches and Firewall (HPE, Dell, Cisco, etc) hands-on exposure
• Linux operating system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu, etc).
• Cloud platform (Openstack, VMWare, K8S, Nokia CBIS, Nokia NCS, RH Openshift, VMWare Tanzu) VNF and CNF system administration.
• Automation tools knowledge (Terraform, Ansible, etc)
• Scripting language capability (Linux shell, Python, Perl)

Optional (good to have):

• Public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) skill and hands-on experience
• VNF Management (CBAM, other VNF MANO apps).
• OSS/NMS exposure / experience.
• Solution architecting role
• Data center hands-on operation and management.
• Nokia Core Networks VNF and CNF product.

Role and responsibilities:

Cloud Infra (CBIS/Openstack, NCS/Openshift, VMware ESXi/Tanzu) deployment:

• Pre-deployment activity (CiQ, HW, SW documentation and gathering)
• Hardware commissioning (remote)
• Networking configuration commissioning (remote)
• Cloud infra SW deployment , monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Post-deployment verification.
• Final infra documentation and storing to common SharePoint place.

Cloud Infra operations and maintenance (HW/SW/Configuration):

• Day to day infra monitoring
• Infra case / problem troubleshooting
• Infra network monitoring.
• New end-user tenant creation and verification.
• End-user JIRA ticket troubleshooting.
• Documentation update
• SW update:

• Infra SW upgrade / update
• Redeployment of cloud infra
• Cloud infra integration to Network Management/OSS / NetAct system
• Communicate with RDNet team for any RDNet IP or routing troubleshooting and enhancement.
• Perform regular backup of infra configuration and enhance the backup routine for all the lab infra.

Reporting and documentation

• Maintain and enhance Infra reporting and provide weekly management report.
• Enhance the infra hardware and software inventory
• Maintain and enhance Lab infra documentation
• Enhance the communication channel towards lab end-user using company communication tool(s)

Enhancement / bespoke projects activity:

• New 3rd party infra project request based on CNS market unit demand / request
• Upgrade on lab supporting tools
• CI/CD adherence and early implementation (future plan)
