Overall Role Purpose:
This individual will report into the Digital Solutions Asia Pacific (APAC)’s Digital and IT Governance PMO team and will take/assume a strong leadership role on project governance, project construction, risk management including stakeholder management. He/she needs to have strong project management experience who will drive project execution and team collaboration across various IT functions and business units. This individual is responsible for delivering projects involving, but not limited to, digital product development, commercial, supply chain and/or manufacturing related initiatives and to ensure critical project management activities and managed smoothly, tracked closely, and having the right focus.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project execution to ensure standard Project Management best practices are employed
  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress and action logs
  • Organize and lead project meetings and compile project status report to stakeholders and project team to drive deliverables to schedule and develop resolutions to mitigation risks/issues
  • Lead project execution to ensure standard Project Management best practices are employed
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks and escalate if required
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and prepare reports for leadership
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Ensure clear post project support and proper handover to support team before officially closing off the project
  • Conducting or contributing lessons learned
  • Manage the project level benefits register, ensuring that all benefits are planned, monitored and benefits realization is tracked
  • As a member of the PMO team, your secondary responsibilities include
    • Active participant in process improvements, providing recommendations and solutions with a continuous improvement mindset
    • Managing / support project portfolio tools including but not limited to; ePPM (Planview), Power BI, Excel and other standard apps
    • Develop and maintain training materials
    • Leverage and support Global PMO, assisting with the PMF mechanisms, standards, and requirements
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Science/Technical discipline along with significant Project Management experience
  • Minimally 5 years project management and team leadership experience with proven track record in successfully leading projects from start to finish
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and interface effectively with team members and across multiple departments & regions/countries
  • Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
  • Understanding of Agile Concepts – Agile Scrum Certifications (i.e. SAFe SSM, CSM, PMP-ACP, etc.) is a plus
  • May be called upon for occasional overnight business travel to other Thermo Fisher Scientific operating sites – travel is estimated to be no more than 15%

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Strong familiarity with project management standards and methodologies including PMI Body of Knowledge, Waterfall and Agile
  • Process oriented and structured working style plus capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Well organized with the ability to work under pressure and deliver work to highest standard
  • Results-oriented team player with strong communication skills
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational influence skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, project management tools, ePPM (Planview), Jira, Power BI
  • Good understanding of financial concepts and accounting terms
  • Aptitude for organizing, managing and distributing data analytics
  • Ability to lead and drive change management
  • Continuous passion for process and delivery improvements
