Role purpose

• Work as a partner with Lead Sales Engineer on customer opportunities
• Work with lead architect for internal projects
• Translate customer requirements into functional design.
• Design solutions in accordance with Colt's value propositions
• Act as a lead design engineer on complex projects involving multi domain components.
• Report to Manager/Associate Sr. Manager
• Own HLD/LLD on projects involving IP technologies

Key accountabilities

• Partnering with Lead Sales Engineer to understand customer's business requirements and translating them into functional design
• Own the Design and act as a single point of contact for it
• Ensuring the proposed design is aligned to industry trends and is cost efficient
• Documenting the final design which would cover solution description, service wrap, SLA, vendor/partner information, costs etc (content for proposal to customer)
• Provides necessary support to Lead Sales Engineer (e.g. customer meetings)
• Act as an interface towards operational teams to seek sign-off on design
• Actively participates in technical forums and other specialist communities

Role specific requirements

Skills & Experience

• 5 to 10 years of total experience, of which at least 2-3 years should be in design activities involving IP technologies
• In-depth knowledge of at-least one SD-WAN vendor deployment -Viptela, Versa Networks, Nuage, Silver Peak, Velocould, Aryaka
• Understanding of uCPE (Universal CPE) solution concept & deployment
• Experience of working in a service provider environment
• In-depth knowledge of MPLS as a technology & MPLS VPNs
• In-depth knowledge of Routing Protocols (BGP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP) & their interworking
• Thorough knowledge of Quality of Service & different queuing mechanisms (LLQ, CBWFQ, WRR)
• Knowledge of encryption technologies (GRE, IPSec), DMVPN, GETVPN, PKI and their applications
• Knowledge of internet policies, peerings & procedures
• Understanding of different switching technologies (STP, VLANs)
• Basic understanding of Multicast & awareness of wireless technologies
• Knowledge of SNMP and other management/monitoring enablers
• Awareness of technologies like IPv6
• Hands-on experience on L2 & L3 devices (both low-end & high-end) from Cisco and Juniper
• Experience in testing and validation of network hardware, feature, functions and design including hands on one of testing tools like Spirent/Agilent/Ixia/ or other traffic generators and test tools
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills able to articulate technical concepts into documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.

Qualifications

Bachelors in Engineering - Computers / IT / Electrical/Electronics /Communication or related field.

Or

Graduate / Post Graduate in Science / Maths / IT or related streams with relevant technology experience.
