Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineering Manager role is crucial in ensuring that our client and employee's expectations are exceeded thus resulting in a world class experience. Milestone is looking for a passionate, self-motivated Manager who brings a wealth of people management, knowledge and expertise.

The Senior Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a high-performing software applications and development teams and running daily operations. Help facilitating strong partnerships internally with peers and our client teams.

The best candidate will have a broad skill set including strong relationship management skills, people leadership and development, analytical horsepower, excellent business judgment, deep curiosity about how things work, and a passion for helping create a world class service experience for our client. You must be willing to challenge the status quo in order to help improve existing workflows and processes to enhance customer experience. You will work with internal client peers of all sizes and must have sufficient presence and communication skills to represent the Milestone across all departments.

How You Will Make An Impact

Your contributions to success include:

  • Technical Management: Your role is to lead, motivate, inspire, and encourage your own as well as cross functional technical teams. Teams include Salesforce Admins, Salesforce Developers, Custom application developers & Testers; Microservices and cloud based application developers (GCP, AWS and Azure); Full Stack developers; oversee 3rd party application developers' activities.
  • People Management: Manage individual team sizes ranging from 5 to 15 members; total team members range from 10 - 25 members
  • Partnering with our client operations management teams to produce a best-in-class service.
  • Technical Operations/Project Management: Manage project plans, software development life cycle processes, manage delivery of all phases of application development, testing and bug cycles. Manage both Agile and Waterfall development projects.
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics: Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of team activities, and performance reporting, including Continuous Improvement and Strategic project roadmap. Recommend how to improve systems and processes to identify areas of service improvement and resourcing utilization
  • Implementing the best practices and coding standards of the project.

Client Relationship Management
  • Prepare & Conduct Monthly service reviews
  • Prepare and run Quarter Business Review
  • Weekly engagement with service owners
  • Regional/HQ Relationship ownership
Resource Management
  • Operational Resource Capacity Planning
  • Monthly resource forecasting per site per region
  • Partner with recruiters on job requisition specifications, candidate qualification specifications
  • Partnering with recruiting on open resourcing requirements and ensuring open positions are filled in a timely manner
  • Employee On-boarding & Off-boarding responsibility
  • Management responsibility for Team Leads
  • Career path, training and employee development
  • Regular one-on-ones with team members
  • Annual performance review of team members
  • Partner with HR on employee issue
What You Will Need To Succeed
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics or related majors
  • Minimum 15 years' of experience in leading Software Engineering / Development projects
  • Sharp problem solving, communication and analytical skills
  • Experience in working with AWS, Google Cloud or Azure cloud-based architecture and deploying web-based and web-enabled business application.
  • Excellent communication and intercultural skills and ability to handle and resolve conflict situations
  • A good understanding of Architectural and Design patterns.
  • Proven experience in lean management for operations, planning, finance, or consulting
  • Highly innovative, flexible and self-directed
  • People skills - maximizing trusting effective relationships
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in building executive level internal and external relationships in a complex and dynamic organization and in influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an assertive approach, whilst maintaining your ability to be vocally self-critical.
  • A smart way of thinking in order to find innovative approaches for business operations management.
  • A business focused way of thinking and a strong hands-on, results-driven mentality combined with a high desire to work strategically.
  • Very good Excel Skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite are a must
  • Passionate self-starter, decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas
