Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to enhance our Cloud Linux / Windows/VMWare Infrastructure Platform and Engineering functions. You will be part of a talented team of agile engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of ongoing availability, performance, and security.

Role Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

• Manage, deliver and monitor key improvements to the currently installed systems and infrastructure.
• Drive enhancements and upgrades to the environment from conception through to implementation
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Provide an advanced level of support to the existing environment
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate routine build and testing activities
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on any tasks
• Work with an issue/problem management system to ensure services are provided according to relevant SLA(s)
• Escalate risks and issues and provide status reports for management.
• Write and maintain appropriate documentation for manual and automated processes.
• Understand existing complex environments and be able to easily identify problem areas and undertake successful implementations to resolve and/or mitigate.
• Be part of an out of hours / weekend oncall rotation.
• Perform occasional weekend work (e.g. patching, upgrades, VM migrations)

Additional

• Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role
• Working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux environments
• Experience with Automation, CI/CD, Jenkins, VMWare, Ansible, git, RedHat Enterprise Linux
• Scripting skills and (Bash, Python, HashiCorp products,Ruby)
• Experience with monitoring systems (Nagios, Big Panda, Elastic, Datadog)
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, RancherOS)
• Awareness of Agile methodology
• Experience in AWS, Azure, Networking & Windows eco system is plus.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Professional qualification or equivalent
• Significant knowledge of at least one programming language
• Significant experience in a Software development and delivery role
• Strong experience of multiple development technologies and knowledge of when patterns are appropriate, and solutions are anti-patterns
• Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance.
