Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? * You will work on the entire life-cycle including research, design, application and deployment architecture, development, testing (dev owns quality), continuous deployment and continuous delivery up until to production. * You will develop complex, highly available, distributed, cloud-based solutions, and maintain its high level of quality software. * Monitor resource allocation, consumption, and performance. * Engage in service software performance analysis and system tuning. * Challenge you to walk in a different path and to deliver quickly while maintaining a high quality
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? vCenter Hybrid Platform Services (India) team is seeking a passionate, strong Lead Engineer to participate in the design and implementation of the next generation vCenter product portfolio which will build foundational components that would provide a common and consistent platform substrate that will allow VMware clouds to seamlessly interoperate at a tenant level of abstraction.This enables customers to move their virtual machines between on-prem vSphere on Subscription and to Service Providers – in the process increasing or decreasing their usage of on-prem vSphere and paying based on what they use. The skills we are looking out for are * 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java based development projects using RESTful APIs, SpringBoot, horizontal scalability, micro services, high availability principles * Solid background in OOP, object and data modelling using SQL and NoSQL databases * Experience using containers, Kubernetes and developing services on AWS * Experience with automation tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI * Excellent communication skills essential
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? As a senior technical member of the team, you will be expected to lead the team in the design, architecture, and implementation of high quality, well-architected software products with a specific focus on cloud, distributed systems, scalability, elasticity and SLA rollups into each component. In this role, you are expected to interact with Senior Architects, Product Managers, Solution Architects and occasionally, with Partners and customers to discuss and collaborate strategies for enhancing features and to come up with the next-generation products. Critical thinking and strong leadership skills is a must as the candidate will be involved in leading a team and making crucial road map decisions.
Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the office.
