Responsible for working with component development engineers, test engineers and suppliers to develop a total vehicle thermal management system to become the benchmark of the automotive industry.
The main role is to define functional and performance targets, supply chain strategy, resolve issues and optimize thermal systems for weight/cost while satisfying program milestones.
Develop and maintain Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R.)
Perform & execute DFMEA & PFMEA
Coach and mentor various engineering professionals.
Lead cross functional team to resolution of open issues
Combine information gained from customer engagements, simulation, analysis, and benchmarking into system and product requirements for thermal management of electric vehicles
Perform engineering work packages to design thermal systems, characterize system performance, vehicle impacts, and product requirements
Collaborate with product management and product development teams to define thermal management portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for flow & thermal simulation of high voltage EV system/sub system e.g charger, battery, motor, Inverter, transmission system & cabin HVAC.
Lead with the team to develop an overall thermal architecture, concept and component selection
Interface with the team of powertrain, power electronics, vehicle integration, body structure, energy storage system engineers to assure thermal component packaging, installation and optimize functional environment.
Benchmark competitive thermal components, to define functional target and engineering specifications
Create proof of concept demonstrations for integrated thermal management systems
Work closely with suppliers on design evaluation and validation of the thermal management system hardware in order to meet product specification and requirements
Coordinate and conduct hardware testing in the lab to verify and validate thermal management system hardware functionality and reliability.
Key Skills Required
Strong fundamentals of heat-transfer and thermodynamics, devices like pumps, radiators, refrigerant systems, battery, motor, Inverter & transmission etc.
Manage refrigeration cycle, refrigerant plumbing, mounting, compressor, condenser design; 1D, CFD and CAE modeling.
Excellent proficiency with creating controls-oriented dynamic system models of thermal, hydraulic, or mechanical systems in Matlab/Simulink/Python etc.
Prototype development and testing; systems engineering fundamentals; and plumbing, compressor, condenser manufacturing is required
Working experience with automotive systems design, packaging and assembly requirements.
