About the role: The Senior Manager, Peer Review Performance, leads a team of publishing professionals focused on delivering a consistent, reliable, and positive author experience. This manager is responsible for the peer review performance for a Research Publishing journal portfolio segment. Management duties include: Overseeing day-to-day management of the peer review and Journal Editorial Office services Overseeing and supporting the evaluation of editor and admin performance across their segment of the Research Publishing portfolio Executing and aligning their team toward continuous improvement, workflow optimization, and adoption of peer review best practices and standards Focusing their team on the value-added strategies and tactics associated with delivering a rendered decision, including such themes as speed to decision, quality of author experience, and integrity of manuscript and workflows that underpin the peer review process. How you will make an impact: TEAM MANAGEMENT Responsible for managing a team of Peer Review Performance Managers and for the training and engagement of team members PEER REVIEW MANAGEMENT Provide program-level oversight of manuscript peer review process from submission to final editorial decision and export to Content Operations for a portfolio of journals within Research Publishing using best practice principles and effective time management practices. Review journal workflows, identifying and implementing changes to improve efficiency. Drive change management efforts across the team of Peer Review Performance Managers when new services/tools are offered or enhanced workflows are rolled out. EXTERNAL CLIENT/PARTNER COMMUNICATIONS Serve as a point of escalation and provide high-level customer service to external journal contributors (authors, societies). Manage journal editor partnerships and vendor partners using effective communication and coaching skills. EDITOR AND ADMIN PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT Develop and maintain rigorous and regular performance routines across assigned portfolios, help team members formulate strategies for greater editor/admin engagement with metrics and adaptation to aligned benchmarks and workflow standards that will improve performance Interdepartmental Responsibilities And Collaboration Efforts Collaborate with internal departments to achieve departmental and client-focused goals and objectives. Work with publishing teams, contributing to journal-specific strategic initiatives, relationship management, and providing information and data to facilitate improvements at title level Lead or contribute to relevant projects, as required Act as an ambassador for Peer Review Performance with internal and external stakeholders as needed globally. What we are looking for: Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent 7-10+ years\' experience in scholarly publishing or the equivalent level of experience in another industry; direct experience managing large cross-culture teams Deep knowledge and understanding of the journal publishing ecosystem, including operational and communications issues; ability to convert strategy into action Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve processes and solutions International leadership knowledge Lean Six Sigma, Change Management Sets goals, and develops strategies and plans for meeting those Is able to break down complex problems/tasks into manageable parts, and allocates own time efficiently Why should you join Wiley The team!
