REPORTING
Based in the Delhi/Dehradun office, you will report to Executive Peer Review Manager, US with
a dotted line reporting to Manager- Peer Review based in the Dehradun office

The division reports to the Director, Publishing Services



OVERVIEW

The Peer Review Supervisor - Peer Review Systems role provides support for the US and UK
Journals Editorial Department, specifically assisting in the support and maintenance of SAGE’s
online peer review systems, management of peer review projects, and supervision of Peer
Review Systems Assistant role(s). This position will assist with the configuration and launch of
peer review sites, end-user support needs, and the execution of peer review projects and
initiatives. The role will oversee the performance of India-based Peer Review System Assistant
role(s).



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Represent the Global Peer Review team based in the Delhi and Dehradun offices and
demonstrate SAGE values. Collaborate effectively with SAGE staff globally.
  • Respond and resolve peer review system support requests submitted via email and ticketing
systems in alignment with standard process.
  • Ensure that all mails are responded to in a professional manner, within SLAs.
  • Lead training for journal editors and editorial staff as required.
  • Work with SAGE’s peer review vendors to fulfill SAGE’s peer review system requirements
  • Manage peer review projects and initiatives with minimal manager support.
  • Supervise Peer Review System Assistant(s) by setting objectives, managing performance
and supporting career development.
  • Escalate or raise issues with appropriate manager and ensure complete transparency about
any challenges.
  • Evaluate the efficacy of processes periodically and suggest corrective action where
required.
  • Hold video/audio conferences with US and UK colleagues after the usual office hours as
required.
  • Troubleshoot problems or issues and display ability to deal with escalations and difficult
situations with maturity and calmness.
  • Uphold expectations of transparency and integrity in your work. Embody and proactively
model all SAGE core competencies.
  • Maintain editorial knowledge and proficiency.



EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
  • Ability to plan, organize, analyze and establish priorities to achieve results.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Experience training and supporting staff performance.
  • Excellent English verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power
Point
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in ScholarOne Manuscripts. Direct
experience with ScholarOne configuration is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the Peer Review functions and operation in Publishing Industry.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development
skills.
  • Graduate or above

2. Communicate in a professional and personable manner with editors and/or SAGE US/UK departments.
3. Solve issues involving the system support requests as required, taking a solution-oriented approach.
4. Participate in meetings as requested and ensuring a foundation of the good working relationship.
5. Always keep your supervisor informed of any communication received from any stakeholder that is tense or volatile in nature. Conversely, please send any positive words and praises received
from the stakeholders to your supervisor as well.

1. Contribute ideas and give feedback to team in a concise and productive manner.
2. Be available to provide support to other teams as needed and defined by your supervisor.
3. Participate in high-end projects requiring analytical skills, committees, or task forces as assigned by your supervisor, and work closely with the US/UK PE managers or colleagues from offshore
offices. 4. Any other projects or tasks, as assigned.
