Job Description

Senior Legal Counsel for a global utility organisation setting base in India.

Reporting into the Country Head-India, you shall be responsible for.

• Providing day-to-day advice in the areas of general commercial transactions and procurement related legal issues (NDA, ELs, POs) including transaction structuring, contract interpretation and enforcement, legal and regulatory compliance, and corporate policies.
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements for all aspects of the Organisation including and not limited to Shareholder documents, performance standards, E&S and reporting
• Researching and evaluating different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations and collaborating with management to devise efficient defence strategies
• Communicating and negotiating with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
• Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitoring compliances and applying effective risk management techniques and offering proactive advice on possible legal issues
• Dealing with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forcing and providing clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organisation
• Representing organisation in board committees and multi-lateral engagements
• Ensuring adherence to all statutory and regulatory compliance
• Following all relevant Department/Unit policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Ensuring that the organisation adheres to legal frameworks in areas such as discipline & grievance, redundancy, and employment law.

Ideally you are LLB graduate with 7-15 years of overall experience in which the relevant experience should be in Commercial Contracts, Investment financing and handling and Legal Advisory to the board. You should have experience of working in industries such as Infrastructure, Power Distribution, Energy (Renewable or Non-renewable) or industries where you Build Operate and Run the asset. You should have excellent communication skills and should be ready to take a challenging assignment in a budding organisation.
