About the role
Senior Network Engineer (Band D) for a world leading Pharmaceutical company which operates in over 100 countries and is head quartered in the United Kingdom. The candidate is expected to work for a large Network support and maintenance function, spanning several continents
The candidate should possess broad functional knowledge in their domain and technical knowledge in relevant Network Operations. The candidate should have proven expertise in working within a team for transition support and maintenance initiatives.
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for leading the Troubleshooting, Development and Implementation of network primarily on Cisco Technologies with additional Load balancer, Wireless services. This person will be in charge of coordinating all aspects of the network environment.
Typical Accountabilities
Responsibilities include :
Main responsibility will be working on proactive-reactive Incident/SR/changes/SIP related to Network and Network security technologies (Switching/Routing/Firewall/LB/Cloud)
Need to be Domain Expert for handling any P1/P2 incidents, critical changes.
Documenting knowledge articles for critical incident/change
Will be accountable for meeting the delivery targets set by management
Responsible for ensuring that delivery is within and better than prescribed SLA levels and help establish processes for continuous service improvement.
Resolve incidents/problems/Changes according to established procedures
Work proactively to ensure prompt resolution of support cases & the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction along with minimal production impact
Manage 24x7 monitoring of Network availability, performance and initial triage of related incidents.
Gather metrics via monitoring, identify trends, and provide reports indicating levels of process compliance
Capture events through monitoring tools and processes; coordinate event response across all network Technology solutions and environments. Ensure proper issue escalation and effective incident resolution.
Work on Service improvement activities and completing it within the target dates.
Providing automation solution to benefit network operations team.
Create policies and procedures related to Networking environment
Education, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential
A minimum of a Bachelor\'s Degree is required, MS or MBA preferred.
8 to 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience performing various tasks in Network Operations center & Hands-on Enterprise Network Solve.
Atleast 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of working in Global NOC environment.
Skills \xe2\x80\x93 Primary
Strong Knowledge on Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Zone based Firewall, Firepower, Cisco ISE
Knowledge in Switching technologies - Cisco 9300/9500, Stackwise-virtual, Nexus \xe2\x80\x93 9K,7K, 5K, 2K,VPC, FEX, Cisco VSS
Strong knowledge in Routing & WAN technologies: Handling Cisco ISR/ASR routers, Troubleshooting Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela), Implementing Routing Protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP etc
Wireless: Cisco WLC, Cisco Prime, Ruckus
Proxy: Knowledge on Zscaler proxy, PAC file changes, building/setting up private proxy nodes. Troubleshooting Zscaler ZPA etc
Secondary/Good to have
Load Balancer: Knowledge on Netscaler, AWS VPC networking work experience
Good understanding of DevOps environment
Scripting: Basic understanding on one of the scripting language Python, shell scripting. Any projects done on this scripting language will be an added advantage
Knowledge or work experience in cisco ACI, Cisco Software Defined WAN are added advantage
Knowledge on low code automation tools such as Itential is an added advantage
Ability to document and maintain Network support documentation (e.g., processes procedures, workflows, communication/training material, service catalog, etc.)
Ability to lead the development of new processes and procedures within Networking with stakeholders from across IT groups and business units.
Strong relationship management experience
Ready to work in with rotational shifts(APAC, EMEA) with on-call support.
Superb communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent presentation skills. Well versed in English.
Desirable
Good knowledge of Release Management, Incident Management and Problem Management processes.
Experience working in globally distributed team
Experience in handling the critical incidents, providing solution amidst pressure situation.
Knowledge in ticketing system like Remedy, SNOW
CCNP(R/S or Security) certification required. CCSA/CCSE and ITIL certifications are added advantage
Base knowledge of Windows/Linux servers
Experience on Integration of tools (API basics, scripts) will be added advantage.
Able to grasp and understand new technological trends / concepts
Good experience in using Microsoft Visio
Must possess good problem solving and communication skills
Must excel working in team environment
