Overview / Responsibilities: Wood is looking for Piping Designers to be a part of the Engineering offshore team based in Chennai.

• 
  Evaluate and execute all Piping design engineering deliverables and related services on portfolio of work within schedule.
• Ensure deliverables are presentable, accurate and consistency checked as to the project requirements
• Responsible for planning, checking of design drafting and conformance to standards
• Provide creativity, foresight and mature design judgement in anticipating and solving Piping design problems efficiently and economically
• Liaise effectively with other disciplines, engineers and clients\xe2\x80\x99 representatives
• Provide effective written communication in site surveys and technical reports
• Manage all aspects of the discipline scope for the project including technical integrity, safety in design, and sustainable design where applicable
• Raising Change Requests when information and scope deviations arise
• Safety \xe2\x80\x93 Responsible for personal safety and working within the Occupational Health & Safety procedures
• Adhering to WOOD engineering procedures for design safety and adopting safe attitudes towards engineering design & raising features affecting the safety and integrity of the project with appropriate authorities.

Skills / Qualifications:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the detail engineering of Greenfield and Brownfield Offshore projects.
• Knowledge & understanding of Layout development for process/utility packages for FPSU/FSU & fixed platforms (Greenfield / Brownfield).
• Review piping studies for defining elevation & configuration for Piperack, process, weather & cellar deck & interface definition / Hook ups.
• Knowledge of statutory norms (NORSOK, OSHA) & International codes & standards (ASME, API, NFPA, NACE).
• An experienced user of the 3D PDMS/E3D modelling and sound knowledge of 2D drafting systems applicable to piping layout and design.
• To be the main piping project interface between client and project management, showing capability and confident in success fulling managing people with requirements and Project expectations.
• A proven track record in performing the full range of piping layout and design.
• A solid understanding of fabrication, construction and installation activities is essential.
• Sound knowledge of all general piping design, developing experience in the area of piping layout and phases of plot plan development.
