Your role in helping us shape the future:

You will be member of dynamic and innovative team of Data Management professionals in Intelsat\'s Commercial Aviation (CA) division. Your primary responsibility will be designing and delivering solutions that enable big data analytics to support growth and performance of our satellite enabled inflight connectivity experience.

You will be driving technical excellence in data engineering practices and processes by staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field, and provide guidance to the team on best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions.

Can you drive these processes?

• As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key member of the team responsible for designing and developing complex, large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data to generate insights and address analytical/reporting needs.
• Proactively identify and mitigate performance and data quality issues, work closely with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and drive continuous improvement. You will partner with Product Management and Operation teams to proactively identify monitoring gaps, improve upstream data collection, and advocate for data-driven decision-making.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, evaluating tradeoffs, and making investment decisions to facilitate the best approach for the organization.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Quality Engineers, BI Developers, and Business Analysts to establish optimal design, development, and delivery that serves technical teams and our user community.
• Mentor junior team members and expected to work closely with senior members of the team to deliver strategic data and analytical objectives for the organization and contribute to the development of data architecture and governance frameworks

You should definitely have:

• Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technology discipline
• Minimum of 6 years of big data processing experience, with at least 4 years of experience working with Snowflake.
• Expertise in building large-scale data lakes and data warehouses in Snowflake, and in designing and implementing data architecture and governance frameworks.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with programming languages such as Python
• Advanced level expertise in developing and implementing complex data pipelines using Snowflake and Python.
• Proven experience in data analysis, writing and developing complex queries using SQL, and using data to drive business insights and decision-making.
• Experience with Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery
• Excellent communication skills, including technical documentation, development and delivery of demonstrations and presentations, and the ability to listen and communicate effectively with functional leaders and stakeholders.
• Up to date knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in the data engineering field, and the ability to provide guidance and recommendations on emerging technologies and best practices to the team and the organization.
• You will have a strong problem-solving aptitude and an acute attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and project plans

It would be nice if you had:

• Experience using any combination of AWS cloud services like EMR, EC2, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Athena.
• Experience with Scala.
• Masters in computer science, Engineering, or Information Systems.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
• Experience in airline / aviation, internet, or telecommunications.
