About role

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join ML Ops team in R&D IT in an era of AI and Machine Learning. It\xe2\x80\x99s a great time to join an IT organisation in R&D as we shift from service provider to transformative partner. You\'ll be focussed on helping the scientists articulate the improvement opportunity and shaping those opportunities into practical proposals, and then partner with them to deliver it and productionise successful machine learning models. The successful candidate will be part of a new, collaborative team of multidisciplinary engineers and together have the chance to create tools that will advance the standard of healthcare, improving the lives of millions of patients across the globe. Our data science environments will support major AI initiatives such as clinical trial data analysis, knowledge graphs, patient safety systems, deep learning led drug discovery, software as a medical device, for our therapy areas. You will have responsibility to help define requirements platform infrastructure, which will enable data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop scalable machine learning and predictive models with our growing data science community, in a safe and robust manner. You will be expected to operate with a high level of interactive communication, demonstrating inclusion and cultural sensitivity, and frequently partner with a counterpart from the data science team to ensure a well-rounded solution is scoped and refined. As a collaborative team member, a successful candidate will be expected to develop and leverage relationships with the IT programme teams and business leads.

The Business Analyst is expected to perform in the following:

• Agile \xe2\x80\x93 Working closely with front line end-users and Product Owners to discover, research and capture their needs. Working closely with Product Owners to create and maintain a prioritised service & product backlog. The preparation and readiness of the product backlog items (e.g. user stories) to be taken into delivery sprints. Be part of a scrum team building and operationalizing data science environments, platforms and tooling.
• Business Needs Identification - Operating at a functional level in assessing and defining business need and areas for improvement. Monitoring and identifying capability gaps and proposes potential solutions through research internally and externally.
• Business Planning - Selecting the appropriate analysis approach to a piece of work depending on its complexity, level of risk, known assumptions, constraints and dependencies. Planning own activities to meet deliverables and deadlines.
• Stakeholder Analysis & Change \xe2\x80\x93 Identifying stakeholders and producing stakeholder maps. Building and maintains relationships. Contributing to communication plans and change management for project and stakeholders.
• Requirements Analysis and Design Definition - Responsible and accountable for requirements management plans including elicitation, approvals, processes, risks, issues and scope impacts. Working with the business to identify functional and technical requirements, translating the requirements into design specifications reflecting Functional Design, User Interface Design and Business Process Design. Closely partnering with the Architecture team, ensuring the technical solution will deliver the agreed business benefits.
• Solution Evaluation - Proficient in analysing and assessing solution proposals and able to articulate supporting reasoning.
• Working collaboratively with:
• Business Partners to ensure that solutions fulfil their needs.
• Product owners to identify and devise solutions that optimize business performance, capability and competitiveness.
• IT Architecture and Delivery and Support to ensure clear understanding of requirements and effective testing so that the solutions delivered to the business are efficient and effective, meeting the customer experience expectations.
• Test Lead to define the testing approach and the components of testing to ensure traceability of requirements and effectiveness of overall solution.

Core skills

• Practical application of Agile Methodology
• Working with complex integrated systems, using creative and strategic thinking to deliver exceptional results
• Strong engagement, communication, and collaborator management skills, including excellent presentation and influencing skills
• Experience of virtual collaboration to shape and develop innovative solutions
• Experience or strong interest in democratising ML Ops and services, handling new customer demand and feature requests.
• Experience building GxP compliant life science systems will be looked upon favourably

Data science skills

• Knowledge of data science protocols used to create, train, validate and utilise predictive models to support data-driven decision making.
• Knowledge of data science tools and technologies, ideally including AWS cloud data analytics technologies.
