What will you do at Ciena?

Reporting to the Manager, Field Systems Engineering Operations, as a Senior Associate, Sales Engineering, you will work performing Sales Engineer (SE) activities as part of Global System Engineering Support Center to support Global customer projects & bid activity. You will use your deep technical knowledge and expertise to partner with and support different Regional Sales Engineering teams in the region to develop high value Ciena optical and networking proposals that accurately address specific customer technical needs. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be actively involved in all pre-sales activities, such as customer presentations and demonstrations to articulate use-cases, designing and validating solutions, providing technical consultancy, and working on RFx with the objective of fostering the sales cycle.

• You will perform Solution Designs, Link Engineering and simulations to validate network designs on Ciena proprietary network design tools, proactively and accurately identify prospect pain points while proposing creative solutions.
• You will work on various RFx deliverables such as Link Engineered Design, BOQ, Product SOC responses and Technical Solution Documentation.
• You will be accountable for the development of custom presentations and demonstration of use-cases and value to prospective customers and configure and setup labs to showcase different product features and functionalities.
• You will collect the latest features in solutions and technologies and identify relevant insights to be shared with the Product Line Management and SE leadership teams.
• You will partner with different technical teams to address specific validation and consulting requirements, achieving the best fit for our customers of our Optical, Metro & Edge Networking hardware and software.

The right candidate must have the hunger to continuously learn, develop, implement, support, and propose industry leading technologies and solutions in the areas of Optical Transport and related SW components providing Automation, Analytics and Optimization capabilities, among others. You must be a self-motivated engineer with the ability to plan and execute a technical project end-to-end. You must have a positive attitude and the aptitude to learn then adjust quickly to overcome technical and business process challenges.

Who you\xe2\x80\x99ll be working with?

You will collaborate mainly across Global Sales and Pre-Sales Engineers, in addition to the global R&D, CTO, PLM, Partners and NPI teams.

You Must Haves:

• Solid understanding in fibre optic transmission systems (OTN/WDM)
• Technical knowledge in data networking including understanding of IP/Ethernet and other data networking protocols
• Technical knowledge of network management systems
• Good degree of presentation, interpersonal and communications skills
• Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to respond to RFP\xe2\x80\x99s and communicate technical quotations accurately
• Good knowledge of computers and application programs (e.g., MS Office)
• Flexible, able to handle multiple tasks.
• English language is mandatory
• Highly motivated technical individual that desires to work on application of advanced transport architectures
• Ability to understand customer needs and use technical expertise to develop customer solutions
• Ability to develop customer relationships and work well with customer
• Flexible individual that can handle multiple tasks
• Team player
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Telecommunication, or Electrical Engineering coupled with extensive experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Expert in architecting multilayer transport/IP and carrier Ethernet Networks with knowledge of:

• Fiber optics transmission systems, OTN, Coherent transmission, ROADM technology, DWDM link engineering, Layer-0 Control Plane, Layer-1 Control Plane etc., telecommunication networks and network management system.
• Understanding of the applicability of NBI Open APIs, ONF transport API model, SBIs (Netconf, Open Flow, etc.)
• Detailed understanding of network deployments and architectures and an understanding of backbone long-haul transport, metro DWDM, optical evolution and packet transport
• Ability to travel
• 4-8 years of telecommunications industry experience\xe2\x80\x8b
