Department Overview

The Workplace Investment (WI) business comprises of Fidelity's institutional business units in the UK and other parts of Europe over pension funds offerings and is a strategic area targeted for growth over the coming years. Systems have been acting as the key enablers for the business in achieving their goals. There are several programs in pipeline for current and next year within WI platforms like PlanViewer, Data & reporting etc where ecosystem is built out of Java-J2ee, APIs and AWS cloud.



The position is for Senior Analyst Programmer for WI department to work in partnership with other members of the team and the business areas, to develop, implement and support the web based solutions. Expert engineer is a seasoned technology expert who is highly skilled in programming, engineering and problem-solving skills. They can deliver value to business faster and with superlative quality. Their code and designs meet business, technical, non-functional and operational requirements most of the times without defects and incidents.

• Proactively highlights any missing/misinterpreted design. Is highly capable of producing/reviewing designs that meet given requirements.
• Demonstrates ability to practice automated Test Driven Development and in the process creates effective safety nets through good coverage via unit and integration tests.

Experience/Qualifications/Personal Qualities:

Must Have Skills are:

• Core Java (JDK 7/8), Spring Framework (Spring boot, Spring Core, Spring AOP ), Hibernate / Spring JPA, Spring - Restful Services, JSON, XML, HTML5, JQuery, AJAX, CSS3 technologies.
• Working experience in Microservices design and REST-API creation.
• Working experience in AWS cloud based services (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Dynamo DB, RDS, SNS, SQS, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail) including the knowledge around Docker containers.
• TDD / BDD approach for unit testing.
• Junit, Mockito, POSTMAN frameworks for unit testing.
• CI tools like TeamCity, Bamboo etc. and good knowledge in DevOps model.
• Working experience in Oracle/MySql/No Sql DB.
• Working experience in SVN/GIT.
• Proficiency in code quality frameworks like SONAR and more quality centric approach.
• Good analytical and problem resolution skills.

Good to Have Skills are:

• PAAS - Platform as a Service.
• Basic understanding in Java script technologies like ReactJS.
• Web MVC frameworks like Struts2, Spring MVC.
• Node.js implementation experience.
• Knowledge around Web Servers and Application servers like Tomcat, Websphere/JBoss/WebLogic.
• Good communication skills.
• Swagger documentation for API's.
• Automation first thought process.
• Ability to work under pressure.
