Scientific Consultant Location: Pune, India

As a Scientific Consultant within our Lotus Interpret team, you will help design and create software solutions to interpret the results of clinical NGS-based oncogenomic and clinical genetics tests, and will contribute to the world’s most clinically robust genomic knowledgebase. Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to our team of product developers
  • In the Agile framework this role will be responsible for the Story and assist with the Epic
  • Work to co-draft product requirements with engineers and review those drafts
  • Elicit and execute on defining needed features with various stakeholders
  • Participate in Sprint planning within working pod
  • Maintain awareness of multi-sprint planning to release outside of working pod
  • Participate in agile sprint related activities within working pod

Desired Skills, Attributes and Experience
  • Ph.D degree in molecular/cancer biology or Bioinformatics with 2+ years of industrial/academic experience in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or related fields
or Masters Degree in molecular/cancer biology or Bioinformatics with 4+ years of industrial/academic experience in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or related fields
  • 2+ years Experience in NGS data analysis preferred
  • Experience in somatic cancer strongly preferred
  • Experience working in, or in collaboration with, clinical NGS laboratories preferred
  • Experience in the planning, development, and delivery of new products and/or enhancements to existing products preferred.
  • Ability to independently assess primary literature, perform database searches using common clinical databases (such as gnomAD, ClinVar, COSMIC, etc.).
  • Experience with common NGS technologies, platforms, and applications.
  • Ability to work semi-autonomously with guidance from senior team members, and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, to contribute to multiple concurrent, fast-paced projects.
  • Desired professional attributes: Love of learning, passionate, strong attention to detail, and highly collaborative. Sound business judgment/decision-making ability, delivers on commitments, able to work and deliver a high quantity and quality results under extreme time and budget pressure, time management skills, oral/written communication skills, including public speaking ability
  • Desired experience and qualifications:
    • familiarity with sequence variant classification and interpretation conventions for inherited disease and cancer, including the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) guidelines for interpretation of sequence variants and the AMP/ASCO/CAP guidelines for interpretation of sequence variants in cancer.
    • familiarity with clinical genomics reporting conventions and best practices for inherited disease and cancer.
