How You Will Contribute: Blue Planet www.blueplanet.com, the software division of Ciena, provides best-in-class intelligent automation software and niche professional services to help clients modernize their IT and network operations. Driven by policy and AI-based insights, Blue Planet delivers the closed-loop automation tools needed to align IT and networking processes\xe2\x80\x94critical to facilitating digital transformation and an adaptive network. We are looking for Scala Developer to work on the team developing and testing the Blue Planet Orchestration platform services

• Responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation and analysis of modules of features of new or upgraded software systems and products.
• Develop and/or execute implementation according to project plans and priorities.
• Develop new software micro-services, libraries, and features that form the platform supporting service orchestration.
• Focus on continuous performance and scalability improvements to the core Orchestration platform.
• Extend and create SDKs used by developers to author resource adapters, service templates, and lifecycle plans.
• Work closely with the Blue Planet solution teams, internal developers, and customers to support their use of the platform to deliver complete solutions to customers.

The Must Haves:

• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent field
• 3+ years of development experience in languages such as Scala/Java.
• Asynchronous programming patterns (e.g. Akka or Zio framework on Scala).
• Experience in Postgresql or Neo4j
• Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp-up on new languages and technologies
• Ability to write understandable, reliable and testable code with minimum supervision
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Highly desirable but not mandatory assets

• Microservice Architecture based platforms and REST based APIs
• Distributed, highly-available, horizontally scalable systems running at large scale.
• Distributed platforms which use Kafka, Elasticsearch, Cassandra or similar systems.
• Strong understanding of Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL).
• Data and service modeling using TOSCA, JSON Schema, Swagger, YANG, etc.
• Database programming with relational and non-relational systems.
• Concurrent programming and development of highly scalable distributed applications.
• Automating tests and delivering software using continuous integration and deployment methodologies.
