Job Summary

We are looking for a Risk Modeling Analyst to help support the growth of our commodity trading organization and the Risk team. The Risk Modeling Analyst plays a key role in developing risk models to quantify and monitor market and credit risks as we continue to add new businesses to our portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Gain a thorough understanding of various transaction flows and the related business requirements from all stakeholders.
• Define and develop the logic required to create datasets and risk models to measure and monitor credit and market risks.
• Coordinate and assist in the development of Risk applications with the Information Systems department.
• Develop methodology to validate and continuously monitor existing risk models.
• Assist Risk Analysts in managing credit and market risk exposures.
• Make recommendations regarding credit, market and operational risk management to the Risk Manager.

The ideal candidate is someone who is looking to pursue a career in risk management and has working experience with commodities, financial derivatives and software development. We are looking for someone who wants to further develop their analytical skills and gain experience in developing software applications in collaboration with the Information Systems team. The Risk Modeling Analyst will work closely with the Risk Manager, the information systems team, the trading desks, the operations teams and the finance department. Requirements

• Bachelor of Commerce graduate (with a finance concentration) or MBA with a finance concentration.
• Computer Science degree is a plus. Relevant work experience in software development could also be considered.
• 3 to 5 years of working experience in Risk management.
• Experience measuring and managing exposures to various commodities is a plus.
• Thorough understanding of financial derivatives, mark-to-market accounting, Value at Risk and stress tests.
• Proficient at advanced Microsoft Excel (VBA), Power query and Power BI.
• Proficient at Python is a plus.
• Understanding of SQL queries, database concepts and programming concept is a must.
• Strong data analysis skills and the ability to synthetize information are a must.
• Show great ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Be open-minded, coachable, resourceful and have an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Demonstrate great communication skills and display strong interpersonal skills.
