Name of post: Project Manager-Jal Sanjivani Nature of post: Contractual Reports to: Manager - Community Impact, Jal Sanjivani Job Overview: Jal Sanjivani is a special community impact initiative of United Way Mumbai aimed at improving the state of drought resilience among the agrarian communities in drought-prone areas of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and other states of India through the Integrated Watershed Management Program (IWMP) strategies. The role oversees the grant management of project Jal Sanjivani including; liaising with the donor, implementation partners, technical consultants, and other local community stakeholders as well as relevant government officials, etc. Job Responsibilities: Contribute to the overall vision of United Way Mumbai for improving the state of water conservation in various agro-climatic zones of India by conceptualising the programs / projects/ interventions. Conceptualize, plan coordinate, and implement high-impact projects on the themes including but not limited to; water conservation, watershed management, sustainable agriculture, rural development, livelihood, etc. To provide support and technical inputs for the development of suitable proposals and project designs. To recruit suitable talent and team for the smooth execution of the projects in the respective geographies. To train, mentor, and work closely with the project team for smooth implementation of the project as per the committed deliverables and timelines. Overall grant management of the project, including basic account maintenance. Liaising with the different government officials as may be required for the successful execution of the projects and ensuring compliance with government norms. Create specific plan for execution of projects on a regular basis in alignment with the overall project timelines. Manage the project team in terms of division of responsibilities, developing and monitoring of their Key Result/ Performance Areas. Maintain the attendance and leave records for all the project/ field teams and consultants. To process and forward invoices for all the project team members and the consultants on a monthly basis. Develop/ possess detailed knowledge about the project and be able to guide the project team and give inputs to all the project partners. Document the project activities and outcomes on a regular basis and submit the project status reports to the donor as per the committed timelines. Financial reconciliation and reporting of the project activities. Travel extensively in the field in all the project geographies as may be required and work in challenging situations. Ensure strict adherence to the standard operating procedure for the project implementation. Maintaining documents related to the project, separately for each activity to ensure timely and effective completion of the activity. Implementation of the project as per the approved budget, ensuring the maximum benefit to the community and judicious use of fund. To provide suitable/ applicable feedback and inputs in timely manner for betterment of the project. You will be responsible to implement any other relevant intervention as stipulated by United Way Mumbai. Any other responsibilities as assigned by UWM as per emerging work requirements and exigencies. Profile Requisites: Master or Bachelor in Agricultural Engineering, Masters in Agriculture or equivalent degree preferred. Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in managing and executing projects in the field of watershed management. A dynamic and versatile person who can easily connect and effectively work with internal and external stakeholders of the project. Good knowledge of the various components of watershed management and related interventions. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be proficient in communicating in English and Hindi (fluency in Marathi will be an added advantage) Must be a team player and should be willing to travel extensively to the project sites. Multitasking. Ability to accomplish time-constrained assignments. The work will require extensive field travel across India. The person must be willing to travel. Must be proactive and be able to take initiative at all times.
