The AVP, GTIS Transformation is responsible for the Delivery, Governance (PMO), Finances for the delivery of:

  • The Technology components of the Barclays Transformation Strategy(N&V)
  • The GTIS Transformation Strategy (N&V)
  • The GTIS Transformation transition projects (N&V)
The role is aligned to the GTIS Transformation(N&V) function
This role requires significant stakeholder management, reporting and coordinating across multiple functions and global locations:
  • Cross-region GTIS & Business Unit Leadership & delivery teams
  • Cross-region support functions – HR, Legal, Sourcing, Security, Finance etc.
  • Central Programme Office

The purpose of the role also includes:
  • To manage specific business and stakeholder relationships in relation to a portfolio of initiatives. Working with key stakeholders on a daily basis, to initiate, deliver and manage end to end delivery of multi-million pound projects.
  • To support the business in successful planning of a complex portfolio of change, including resource management, financial planning, release management, delivery scheduling.
What will you be doing?
  • Primary accountability for the establishment and effective execution of Project Management processes, procedures and tools to allow successful delivery of Transformation(N&V) projects
  • Own project Monitoring and Reporting, evaluate, review and challenge of project/ status against plan and own remediation of risks and issues
  • Accountability for the Delivery, Finances, Reporting and Governance of the Transformation(N&V) Programme.
  • Partner with the relevant executives to design, negotiate, interlock and agree, both internally and externally, the phasing of delivery.
  • Work with the GTIS Service & Strategy function to shape and staff a portfolio of transformation initiatives and to deliver the Transformation(N&V) elements (both technology & GTIS workforce)
  • Determines, monitors and reviews all programme or project economics, including costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources and risk, ensuring that there are appropriate and effective governance arrangements, supported by comprehensive reporting.
  • Plans, directs and co-ordinates activities to manage and implement complex projects from contract/proposal initiation to final operational stage.
  • Evaluates changes to programme and project management practices and initiates improvement to organisation practices.
  • Produce and deliver GTIS Roadmaps / Milestone Plans assuring integration and alignment with the central Real Estate programmes
  • Foster and develop relationships with stakeholders across Business Units, HR, Legal, Sourcing, etc
  • Support the wider GTIS Transformation Portfolio(N&V) with global deliverables
  • Ensures that all portfolio status reporting is accurate, informative and timely, and directly provides progress reports to the business and Programme/Portfolio governance forums at agreed intervals
What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or equivalent
  • Relevant experience as Project Manager (experience with Banking environment/clients is a plus)
  • Responsibility for delivering a service in a technology context
  • Led/delivered enterprise change (specific examples will be required)
  • Project Management accreditation preferable, understanding of disciplines & methodologies (Waterfall, Agile);
  • Broad financial services experience

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Highly articulate and persuasive communicator with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Sound commercial judgment and good understanding of Financial Services and Banking Industry
  • Strong knowledge in using MS Office 2010 tools, in particular MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio and MS SharePoint
  • Proactively identifies risks, issues and dependencies and can perform analysis on value at risk and mitigation options across a complex programme, can flag strategic risks for business executives and lead its mitigation across stakeholders. (e.g., PMP, PgMP accreditation from the PMI)
  • Be a quick learner and be able to drive complex projects end-to-end independently
  • Should demonstrate proven experience and knowledge of the project management life-cycle
  • Understanding cloud computing fundamentals is a plus
