The Role


Where you fit in Enterprise Technology and Projects (ET&P) organization is a part of the Information & Digital Services and Operations (IDSO) organization in Shell IDT (Information & Digital Technologies).ET&P delivers Enterprise Technology foundations for all of Shell. The organization is split into 4 Enterprise Service Portfolios which plan and deliver Shell-wide IT solutions for: End User Productivity, Digital Platforms, Identity & Access Management and Security, and Connectivity. In addition to 4 Enterprise Portfolios, there are 4 Programs and Projects Delivery organizations that work hand in hand with the enterprise portfolio teams as well as relevant Business IT and Business SOM (Service Operations Management) teams to deploy and operationalize IT solutions. These 4 organizations are focused on project delivery in the following areas: Enterprise, PTUPIGRES (combined: Projects & Technologies, Upstream, Integrated Gas, and Renewable Energy Solutions), Downstream, and Global Functions.The PTUPIGRES Delivery organization works on projects which deliver new technologies or otherwise optimize operation of existing technologies which create value and drive digitalization adoption across the entire Shell Group. What’s the Role? The Project manager will primarily manage SAP infrastructure projects in UP/PT/IG/RES Enterprise and technology team within IDT Service Operation (ITSO) organization. ET&P team is responsible for managing and the delivery of all infrastructure projects. A considerable part of the portfolio is covered by our ERP (SAP) solutions. Key delivery focus includes system roll outs to Shell Operating Units and technical / technology upgrades. The incumbent is expected to manage other infra projects (non SAP/ERP) when there is no demand in the SAP/ERP space. As an SAP Infrastructure Project Manager, you are accountable and responsible for project planning, controlling and executing small to medium scale projects with budget exceeding $250K USD and complexity across all stages of the project life-cycle. This will utilise your skills within Project Management, Benefits and Budget Management and Change Implementation Planning and Management. On a daily basis you collaborate with a range of stakeholders including Shell business, Service Operations Management, IT managers, IT service providers and onshore & offshore suppliers. Using the Shell's Project Delivery Framework along with One IT standard processes, you will be expected to deliver projects on time, within the approved budget, and within the agreed scope, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and are compliant with Architecture, Information Risk Management and Supportability standards. Key Accountabilities Projects Delivery
  • Manage the successful delivery of the infrastructure projects - on time, within budget, to agreed scope/quality and in full compliance with project delivery framework, with increase adoption using Agile methodology.
  • Manage major issues, escalations and other interventions with good sense of urgency and judgement necessary to keep projects on track, with special attention to supplier interfaces.
  • Monitor and intervene delivery performance effectively
  • Manage key stakeholders and communication effectively
  • Take charge of the planning of projects, including budget, resource planning and initiation of projects
  • Takes a structured and effective approach to own work and demonstrates good leadership ability
Management Information
  • Prepare and share periodic projects performance reports for various stakeholders including communicating value creation
Projects Resourcing
  • Within own Projects, manage the resourcing of the projects effectively and make critical decision regarding resource planning.
  • Utilize mix of Shell staff, strategic partners and other niche IT providers resources effectively
Staff Development & Performance Management
  • Sets specific longer- term and stretch goals for self to deliver results and achieve high quality performance.
Business Planning
  • Assist Program Manager or Project Portfolio Manager in monitoring of overall IT Investment budget including yearly and quarterly IT budget planning cycles.
  • Support the initiation of projects, ensuring project charters are rigorously reviewed by key stakeholders.
What we need from you
  • Years of Experience: 8 to 12 years of IT experience of which 6 years in project management.
  • Possess very solid technical understanding of SAP infrastructure and SAP project delivery.
  • Extensive global exposure including having experience in managing a global team working across many countries
  • Has achieved proficiency in project and quality management. Has gained experience of achieving results through effective team leadership and through the planning, control and execution of projects, including demonstrable success in managing multiple projects (small to medium scale projects)
  • Educated to degree level, likely in an information technology specialty. Knows own organisations’ policy framework, management structures and reporting procedures for all aspects of the program’s environment, and can see the big picture.
  • Solid knowledge of business analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Has strong planning, communication and presentation skills. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Is highly experienced in communicating with clients at all levels, singly and in groups.
  • Has sound understanding of the costs of IT (project and lifetime) and the ability to cost operational IT services. Skilled at identifying benefits which come in the form of cost savings both within IT and in the business, in relation to the operational cost of the IT service.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of risk management. Understands the interdependencies of business processes and information systems.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines well
  • Self-starter and results oriented
  • Excellent team player with strong customer focus
  • Able to manage and motivate a virtual team
Preferred:
  • Holds a professional qualification. PMP certified (or other equivalent project management certification).
  • Possesses good knowledge of business and understands the significance of commercial constraints. Demonstrates a strong awareness of appropriate uses of IT within the industry of specialization and specifically within competitive or associated organizations operating in the same market.
  • Understands and applies the theory and practice of change management. Knows and uses various change methodologies appropriately at the individual, team and organizational level.
  • Broadly skilled in information and communications technology. Has a comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life cycles, and the environment in which they operate.
  • Able to influence without authority and own mature leadership.
