What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

As a Principal Engineer, you\'ll be defining the long-term data strategy for our C&I businesses and ensuring that our transformation programmes deliver to that strategy, in order to drive customer outcomes. We\'ll look to you to drive the delivery of a connected data eco-system which will accelerate the digitisation of customer and colleague experience across C&I CDIO.

You\'ll also drive engineering excellence across multiple platform teams to improve the velocity and quality of delivery. You\'ll do so by making DevOps implementation, including continuous testing, continuous deployment and observability real for the technology delivery teams.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for:

• Leading the creation of re-usable data assets across the bank and democratising the use of these assets that will power analytics and decision science, to enable the transformation of customer experience
• Ensuring adherence to the bank-wide data principles and that change programmes are delivering in line with the bank\xe2\x80\x99s target state data architecture
• Streamlining the end-to-end data pipelines that touches C&I data in order to make those efficient and eliminate duplication of data across pipelines
• Adoption of the bank-wide data publishing and consumption patterns, in addition to defining and implementing sound data controls and building data cataloguing and data lineage capabilities
• Making sure that you keep the right technology costs on top of your mind, such as Cloud, software license and network costs as you define and deliver on the data and engineering strategies

The skills you\xe2\x80\x99ll need

We\'re looking for a seasoned professional with at least 18 years of experience. To thrive in this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll need advanced knowledge and experience of building end-to-end big data pipelines in a hybrid on-premise and public or private cloud setup, for both analytical and operational use-cases, to deliver value for customers and colleagues.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll need experience of distributed Agile methodologies, and a strong understanding of the DevOps work environment to drive engineering excellence.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll also need:

• Extensive experience working in a governed, and regulatory environment
• To be a capable third-party engagement leader with the ability to work with multiple suppliers and commercial acumen to deliver the best results for our organisation
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to your peers and management level colleagues
• Good collaboration and stakeholder management skills, coupled with experience of being a leader of multi-disciplined teams, multiple locations, and staffing models
