GSFC Platform Engineering focus group is responsible for ensuring the proper function of all GSFC systems, asset management, change management, project management for environment development/enhancement/implementation efforts, and comprehensive documentation. The GSFC provides 24x7 security services to the organization. The team will provide 24x7 support to the GSFC as needed potentially including on-call, off-hours support. This role reports to the Manager of GSFC Platform Engineering.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the Platform Engineering teams goals and objectives by closely working with the leadership team
• Design, engineer and implement solutions on the GSFC platform primarily on Linux
• Perform product evaluation and PoC’s, make recommendations, procure products.
• Closely support and collaborate with other Global Security Fusion Center teams to identify requirements, develop plans to accomplish the requirements, test implementations, communicate/coordinate with affected customers and stake-holders and release developed solutions.
• Build strong partnerships with technical dependency teams
• Verification of the on-going functionality of GSFC systems and applications (KTLO)
• Documentation: Asset inventory and details, processes, procedures
• Server/application health monitoring

Primary Skills

• Working knowledge in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux server environments
• Advanced knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
• Good understanding of Red Hat IdM – LDAP / Kerberos etc
• Experience in virtualization concepts (VMWare)
• Good understanding of Containerization (Docker) is a plus
• Experience writing and working with automation scripts (bash, python, etc)
• AWS knowledge is plus
• Experience in managing NetApp server is a plus
• knowledge on Windows server administration is a plus
• Experience in managing software defined infrastructure such as Git, Jenkins is a plus

Experience

• 8+ years’ experience in application administration, patching, vendor support interactions
• Experience in a security related discipline: administration, threat intel, vulnerability management, penetration testing, incident handling, etc. is a plus
• 4+ years’ experience in network fundamentals:
  • OSI/DoD network models
  • Ethernet
  • switching and routing
  • IPv4/IPv6
  • typical layer 3 and 4 protocols associated with IP
  • Application layer protocol knowledge
  • Stateful inspection firewalls
• Platform Certifications (RHCSA, LFCS, other Linux / Solaris / Windows platform administration)

Shift B: 1:30pm to 10:00pm
