Responsibilities

• Management of a shift rota to ensure 24x5 onsite cover and 24x7 cover with on-call support.
• Responsible for ensuring the team meets targeted metrics and adopts continuous improvement approach to managing the environment.
• Ensure that all processes and documentation are adequate and effective to meet support and audit requirements.
• Provide weekly reporting to the Senior Managers.
• To ensure effective, pro-active monitoring and management is in place for systems.
• Identify mechanisms to improve service availability.
• Participate in regular disaster recovery tests.
• Provision of project resources to provide build out capabilities to agreed standards following the release of processes from Unix Engineering/Solutions.
• Plan all changes to the production environment and ensure that sufficient skilled resources are in place to perform the change (most change to be implemented outside of core hours).
• Ensure all changes are agreed with the Unix Manager/Unix Engineering/Solutions team.
• Manage deployment of patches/upgrades to the production environment.
• Liaise with 3rd party organisations to resolve incident and problem investigations – understanding all 3rd party escalation processes.
• Ensure all builds for production are properly tested and all Service Acceptance criteria are met.
• Ensure that the team is adequately trained to support the Unix infrastructure.

• RedHat Linux (version 7 & 8)
• Logical Domain / Zones
• Application clustering (Veritas/RedHat)
• VMware
• SAN experience on RedHat/Unix (HDS/HP/EMC)
• Shell scripting (bash)
• Exposure to Public/Private cloud

Desirable technical/other skills

• Rubrik/NetBackup
• LDAP (RedHat Directory Services)
• RPM packaging experience
• HP Blades Servers
• Perl
• Python
• Ansible
• Experience with ServiceNow ITSM (as a user)
