Specific Job Requirements

Working closely with your colleagues across the QA team, you will be part of enabling our ambitions to continually improve our capabilities, performance and functionality. You will help to shape the approach to the execution of testing to best meet the needs of BT to always drive for a higher quality release product. This role is in the heart of the automation team, bringing speed, reliability and greater coverage to the current methods of working; you will be at the forefront of new technology coming in to our core business.

What you\'ll be doing

  • Coordinates a diverse team and creates the initial test schedule to deliver all aspects of testing to time, budget and quality targets, holding accountability for producing outlines of solutions and defining depth of testing required.
  • Plans and oversees full lifecycle integration testing to support complex projects.
  • Monitors day to day activities to ensure all objectives are achieved, reviewing reports and statistics to unblock any issues.
  • Provides technical expertise within their area and shares knowledge with team to scope and deliver testing requirements.
  • Interacts with customers and senior internal stakeholders including project and programme managers to gather insight and feedback to inform testing requirements and approach.

  • Product and service knowledge - You demonstrate subject matter expertise in complex, technical infrastructure, products and services. You develop bespoke solutions to meet short, medium and long-term customer needs.
Experience you would be expected to have
  • Good foundational understanding of mobile networks and the key elements of core network components; Working knowledge in one or more an advantage
  • Good software engineering skills with a solid understanding of the importance of test driven development, shared code ownership, pairing, agile principles, and the management of technical debt. Python essential.
  • Good foundational understanding of general network operation essential
  • Committed to adopting an automation first approach to increase delivery flow and result accuracy. Experience using one or more automation tools/frameworks such as Perfecto, Headspin, Robot, Selenium or equivalents highly desirable. Software and/or script development experience highly desirable
  • Experience using GIT and Nexus essential - including a good understanding of how we can treat all artefacts as code (config, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Able to build great relationships both inside and outside the teams, leveraging those relationships to ensure the smooth flow of the right information
  • Able to make decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions
  • Understanding of different communication and working styles, and how to adapt own style to that of others. Experience working with teams located in different geographical regions desirable.
  • Has broad knowledge of industry tools and practices including agile methodologies and DevOps engineering approaches
  • Able to debug, diagnose and arrive at RCA\'s, deriving information from designs and/or experimentation in order to assist in the triage and resolution of test defects desirable
  • Experience using tools such as ELK, Confluence, Jira and Splunk an advantage
  • Good understanding of cloud configuration and deployment with experience working with Openstack and kubernetes highly desirable.
